Ist breakfast tea or coffee and mince pies whilst opening presents
2nd breakfast/brunch smoked salmon or bacon with scrambled eggs with bucks fizz or orange juice or cava.

Lunch
Garlic and chilli prawns with salad and breadsticks or
Roasted red pepper and tomato soup
Turkey with roast potatoes and veg plus pigs and chicks in blankets, cranberry and bread sauce
Pudding whatever DS1 decides to do

Evening
Possibly cheese and biscuits and crisps.

breadrollz · 16/11/2021 20:25

Our actual christmas dinner involves

at least 2 types of meat
2 different stuffings - one with fruit
goose fat roasts
mash potatoes with onion
pigs in blankets
honey roasted carrots
Brussel sprouts with lardons & chestnuts
honey & mustard parsnips
yorkshire pudding
gravy
cranberry
other sauces
some additional sides as mum panics there isn't enough!

I'm salivating as I couldn't see my family last year due to covid rules & I look forward to it all year.

Kendodd · 16/11/2021 20:49

So looking at what others are having I might do toasted panettone for breakfast with butter and jam. I just slice and toast under the grill, right? I'll make a fresh fruit salad and some natural yogurt and coffee and juice or smoothie as well.

Breakfast: croissants and posh jams

Starters: watercress and Stilton soup

Dessert: Bailey's chocolate brownie trifle, pavlova wreath and Xmas pudding (lots of us - 14! So a couple of desserts)

SimpsonsXmasBoogie · 16/11/2021 22:06

Bacon butties and coffee for breakfast for adults. Sweet pastries and OJ for DC.

Traditional full turkey roast for lunch. Served at roughly 2pm. No starters because it's a big meal.

Rest of the day is just leftovers and whatever chocolate/treats we've gotten in our stockings, paired with nuts, crisps etc.

Nice cheeseboard after DC go to bed, usually around 8/9pm.

SimpsonsXmasBoogie · 16/11/2021 22:07

Ah sorry, I forgot Christmas lunch dessert! We have a Nordic Ware pine forest bundt pan which I make a nice rich, vanilla sponge cake, dusted with icing sugar.

Lightisnotwhite · 16/11/2021 22:17

Full English with gammon ham, mushrooms and gherkins. This is a throwback to when my dad had done a full morning milking cows by breakfast on Christmas Day,

Prawn Cocktail. Roast. Christmas pudding.

Sandwiches and crisps if needed with the telly. Chocolates.

We are simple creatures.

inigomontoyahwillcox · 16/11/2021 22:27

Breakfast-croissants

Lunch- nut roast for me, free range turkey for rest, roast potatoes, carrots, peas and veggie stuffing balls. Xmas pudding and custard.

Later- cheese, crackers, pickles, hummus, salad.

Mince pies.

I try not to over buy tbh. It’s nice to have special food but I also don’t want a lot of waste. We are fairly restrained so that probably seems quite dull.

Samanabanana · 17/11/2021 05:18

Dinner - no starter as no one can ever fit one in! Pudding will be a choice of Christmas pud and brandy butter, sherry trifle or chocolate tart

Supper - picky bits buffet. Cold meats, cheese, crackers, antipasti, etc

Oh I can't wait!

CanIPleaseHaveOne · 17/11/2021 05:33

@A580Hojas

Any old breakfast for those who eat breakfast. Might buy some croissants which we generally only have on birthdays.

From 11am loads of snacks of the unhealthy variety, nuts, booze, a few little heated up M&S treats.

4-5pm Christmas dinner - turkey and all the rest although I never bother with bread sauce. But we have posh stuffing, pigs in blankets, parsnips and sprouts in addition to the usual Sunday roast so that elevates it a bit and a jar of cranberry sauce for DH who is the only one who likes it.

Pudding, a mince pie, brandy butter and cream a bit later in front of TV.

Simple but kinda traditional.

Might buy some croissants which we generally only have on birthdays.

Buy the croissants - it is a birthday! Must be the biggest birthday party in the world! Grin

FixItUpChappie · 17/11/2021 05:47

Breakfast is variable year to year, "lunch" is just appetizers/chocolate/goodies but dinner is the same meal I've eaten at every major holiday my whole life:

Dinner:
-Turkey
-broccoli casserole
-mashed potatoes
-stuffing
-gravy
-cranberry sauce

Dessert:
-Grasshopper pie and something else for my husband

Yum CakeSmile

ShaunaTheSheep · 17/11/2021 06:09

Breakfast - pain au raisin and almond croissants, and the DC knocking up fancy hot chocolate or coffee - syrups, toppings, iced, frothy...

Lunch (with veggie-friendly trimmings)
Bronze Turkey
Triple nut roast
Roast potatoes
Pigs in blankets ( +veggie alternative?)
Parsnips
Chantenay carrots
Sprouts & chestnuts
gravy
Cranberry sauce

Black Forest Xmas pud (taking a risk!)
Brandy butter
Traditional Sherry and raspberry trifle

Supper
Cheese and charcuterie board (depending on how late we eat lunch)

We are similar in my house.

I love food and like to have indulgent things to eat, but so many past Christmas' became like an onslaught of food. It started to feel like a chore to eat it and, as you say, there was lots of waste.

Now we just buy a few nice things that we like, and we don't plan any big meals apart from Christmas dinner because we know there will be plenty of leftovers.

HelebethH · 17/11/2021 06:46

@Kendodd
I advise you to slice the Panettone thickly. Also because its quite sweet it can burn very quickly. It does not take long to cook. If you slice it thin it just breaks up when you butter it. It is a great breakfast though as its so light.
This year for the first time I am trying one from Wilko of all places! They are £5 and come in a lovely reuseable storage tin
