As the title says - what can I get a 13 year old girl I don't know please?

Budget is about £20 ish and shouldn't be something that needs batteries.

Thank you 😊

my 13yr old would always like a book token

or another shopping voucher - amazon or next or something

foxgoosefinch · 15/11/2021 23:15

Agree with book token or voucher, unless you know a bit about what her interests/likes are.

Sweetener12 · 16/11/2021 05:07

Another vote for book tokens and vouchers, could also be a gift card for accessories/clothes stores or a subscription to some simple programs like Clipify for video editing or Pics Art Gold for photo editing (check with her parents first though).

A tub of Whittard hot chocolate, mini marshmallows and a nice mug

Thanks. I think a physical present is best - it's for a charity which gives gifts to disadvantaged children.
A bag would be a nice idea, maybe with some chocolate inside. Not sure if access to a kettle/energy costs would be an issue with hot chocolate, but I love that thought.

A bag or small backpack filled with fluffy socks, hairbrush, chocolate bar, nail polish, …

I wouldn't get vouchers because there is no guarantee she will be able to get to the shops or go online.
Maybe include a copy of your favourite book from when you were 13. Mine was the Little House on the Prairie books at that age. You could put a little note to say it was your favourite and you hope she likes it.

Mustbeteatime · 16/11/2021 10:15

Love these ideas, especially the book & note - that was in fact one of my favourites at that age. And the Enid Blyton Malory Towers series 😊

Ah in that case OP then have a look at some of the book sets in The Works or similar. Or a pretty bag or notebook and pen/stationery set?

SE13Mummy · 16/11/2021 10:44

Stationery things that will be useful for school but are nicer than the basics might go down well e.g. Stabilo highlighters, Frixion pens in black and blue, set of Noris colouring pencils, biros in a range of bright colours, fun sticky notes, Pritt stick(not the cheap alternatives).. all the sorts of things that will get used up but that can make life tricky for teens if they don't have their own. A plain Eastpak pencil case to put it all in maybe? Depending on how much it comes to, the So? body spray seems to be popular as do the Christmassy shower products from Lush.

I think a bag is a lovely idea- either a tote or a backpack (especially if you fill it with some nice things).

Nice pencil case and stationery/drawing supplies (pencil set and good quality paper).

A fluffy blanket (Asda and Tesco have some nice ones for around £10). Maybe with some chocolate, slipper socks and a mug with some instant hot chocolate sachets.

Lip balm, shower gel and hand cream (places like the Body Shop usually some nice festive scents). You could probably find a fairly inexpensive makeup bag to put it in too.

A chilly’s water bottle would be nice ‘ www.johnlewis.com/chilly's-vacuum-insulated-leak-proof-drinks-bottle-500ml/pastel-green/p4245592’ (I teach 15-18 year olds and lots of them love these).

This is really pretty: www.johnlewis.com/estella-bartlett-sienna-flower-charm-stretch-bracelet-silver/p3118104 maybe with a metallic/colour shift nail polish from Barry M (they sell it in Boots/Superdrug).

HerbivorousRex · 16/11/2021 11:03

Also, a book is a lovely idea (especially with a note). Although I’d be careful as some of the girls might struggle with reading/may not speak much English. Maybe choose something that’s less than £5-10 so you’ve also got some budget for a few other things too.

This is a very good point.

I would go with nice stationery to include some less schooly bits like washi tape.

This is a good idea. Simple and generic.

Not a book, tbh - the range of books enjoyed by teenagers is massive. Many of them wouldn't be at all impressed by the (lovely) books suggested at that age.
