Gifts for my team at work

hi all, last year it completely slipped my mind that I should get my team a present each, so I ended up ordering something very late.

This year, I want to be organised. I'm not hugely wealthy, but am very senior at work and want to get the team members a food (probably) gift. Will need to deliver to each of their homes as we're still not back in the office yet.

My boss last year got me a lovely Green & Black's chocolate and wine gift box that probably cost a lot of money. I don't have that much - think around £50 each?

Thanks

that is a lot of money.

my immediate thought, as i had similar thought, was to buy my colleagues a plant,

perhaps you could buy a hamper each?

DH got one of these from his boss last year and it went down very well here! www.hotelchocolat.com/uk/large-chocolate-dipping-adventure.html

M&S do great Christmas food and drink hampers, at various different prices. They all look good.

Kleptronic · 14/11/2021 08:54

@Rrrob would you DM me too please?

lanbro · 14/11/2021 08:55

@Rrrob pm me too please!

Dashel · 14/11/2021 09:23

Depending on where you are, what about a gift box from Betty’s? Do any of your team have any dietary requirements?

MrsFoxyplease · 14/11/2021 09:28

Work gave all employees £50 'Love to Shop' vouchers.
We were all thrilled.

00100001 · 14/11/2021 09:32

Get them vouchers

00100001 · 14/11/2021 09:32

I'd be grateful for a food gift, but unlikely to eat them and would pass on.

TheChosenTwo · 14/11/2021 09:40

Tbh I’d really appreciate vouchers if it’s £50.
If it was £20 then a bottle of wine or box of chocolates etc but I’d be annoyed if someone had spent £50 on me and it was chocolates/booze that I hadn’t chosen! Not that I wouldn’t be grateful, don’t get me wrong, but I think vouchers gives the receiver choice on what they want to spend it on.
It’s very kind of you! I don’t even get a Christmas card from my boss Grin we pay for our own Christmas do (I don’t even go anymore!) - I’ll get out my tiny violin now Grin

Lush voucher or book subscription

Yogaandcocoa · 14/11/2021 14:15

Why has @Rrrob post been deleted?

I also think £50 is a lot and agree a voucher is better if you're spending that much

Not everyone drinks wine and £50 is a lot to spend on food people may not like

ElephantOfRisk · 14/11/2021 14:21

I don't think you need to spend anywhere near that tbh.

In general I've had things such as £20 vouchers or wine and chocs or a crate of beer (which I don't drink). It's really the thought and I would never expect anything at all.

DS got some lovely brownies through the post for his birthday in the summer and you could add a personal message on the box. I thought that was lovely and would appreciate something like that myself.

moose62 · 14/11/2021 14:22

I would buy them an M&S or Waitrose/John Lewis voucher. I don't drink and am diabetic so most of the food presents would not be any good for me. The nice thing about vouchers is you can post them in a nice card, so no drivinf or delivering to everyones houses.

holidaynearlyover · 14/11/2021 14:24

I thought you were going to say a fiver!! Loads of nice stuff at M&S in the £50 price range

1forAll74 · 14/11/2021 14:46

I wouldn't think it was at all necessary, to buy work people anything. especially anything expensive. This was never a thing years ago, in work places.. Just Christmas cards were exchanged. and that was it.

OneDayInMyLife · 14/11/2021 15:12

Last year I bought my team a Molton Brown Christmas cracker each. Was just a little gift but appreciated.

HermioneWeasley · 14/11/2021 15:14

With a budget like that you could get a vintage bottle of champagne.

Starisnotanumber · 14/11/2021 15:32

Stirred fudge do letterbox friendly boxes under your budget.
You could get a 3 month subscription for around 25 pounds or a single pack around 12.00. They do vegan choices if that is appropriate.

Itsnotdeep · 15/11/2021 06:56

Thank you everyone - Maybe vouchers is the way forward.

Not all of the team drink alcohol so it's a bit tricky getting them drink really. And yes, I think £50 is too much actually. (for me to afford, rather than them receiving it).

Again, this would be wasted on me...don't drink
Rrrob · 15/11/2021 16:40

@Yogaandcocoa apparently saying I could help is advertising so MNHQ deleted my comment and suspended my account.

@Itsnotdeep please do use a small business if you can. Times have been really tough for lots of small business owners this year, and hopefully you’ll get a personal service and a more unique gift. I did a little happy dance when I thought I could help with this, and I’m sure other small business owners would be delighted to help you find suitable gifts.

RosieRoww · 15/11/2021 16:42

OP I think the voucher is a really good and practical idea, especially if you wanna spend £50 on each.

jocktamsonsbairn · 16/11/2021 00:29

Order hampers from the Airport ale of Arran gift box - they only use small companies based on the island and the quality is fab!
