Best stand for a large real Christmas tree

We always get a real tree, up until this year they have been smallish ones and we have a plastic base from Asda that has served us well for the last 12 years!
But this year we, at last, have the space for a large tree (probably not massive). But I think that the width of the trunk probably won’t fit in our stand. Can anyone recommend a stand, or an easy way of supporting a large tree?
My mum used to use a bucket with pebbles but it was a PITA!

We use this one which does have some plastic components but the gripping mechanism is metal and very strong. I don't know if you're needing something even bigger than this though?

Any really big tree isn't going to be very well supported by just a stand at the base. If you have anything over 6 foot its a good idea to get some transparent fishing line and attach it to the top of the tree and tie the other end to a screw on the ceiling or a nearby wall.

I was going to recommend the Krinner ones too. We’ve been through a number over the years and it’s by far the best.

We also use the Krinner one. We've had it for 10 years, usually have a 6-7ft tree.

Another vote for Krinner all the way, it's very heavy and has no issue with our 7ft tree, and plenty of water capacity too.

Krinner is dog’s bollocks. It was a revelation after years of swearing and tree wrestling.

Tulipvase · 14/11/2021 09:33

We have that stand too and have a 7ft tree usually.

We've got the Krinner too! Has made putting up the Christmas tree a lot easier.

TheChosenTwo · 14/11/2021 09:36

We have a stand similar to the one posted (we bought it at the Christmas tree farm about 10 years ago, no idea what brand it is but has 4 screws around the sides), it’s been fine for us and our trees are always 8ft, no issues with falling over.
How big a tree do you think you’ll get?

BeaLola · 14/11/2021 09:52

Krinner - was a game changer and worth its weight in gold

LunaLoveFood · 14/11/2021 09:52

We've got the krinner one too, again had it at least 5 years (this is the second we have had, the first lasted 10 years) so well worth it. Always have 7-8 foot tree.

We have one from Costco (years old) cast iron with three screws so the width is adjustable to fit . It takes a good 3 lites of water .
Weighs a tonne though !

We have a Krinner one and an Amazon Basics one, we have two trees.
I prefer the Amazon one although initially I didn't read the instructions properly and nearly returned as it was impossible to use, but it's fab.
The Krinner is great but in 15 years of owning it not a year goes by where someone doesn't accidentally release it usually me when I'm hoovering and the tree slips.

TrickyD · 14/11/2021 10:46

Ours is a Cinco for an 8 ft Tree and is fine, though we do add the fishing line attachment just to be on the safe side.

TrickyD · 14/11/2021 10:50

Actually I have just remembered that we now have an artificial tree with its own stand so don’t use the Cinco any more. But we still add the fishing line.

Thingsthatgo · 15/11/2021 14:48

Amazing! Thank you. I shall have a look at Krinner. Seems to be the way to go!

Ah your mistake there is hoovering. You know the saying about how tidying the house when there's children is like shoveling snow while it's still snowing? Same goes for hoovering when there's a Christmas Tree in the house. Best to just learn to love the crunch of pine needles underfoot.
