Any amazing ideas I may not have thought of? She has an older sister so we have a lot of stuff already and also I can't just give her not a lot as otherwise the 3yo will have questions!

My 18 month old at Christmas loved nothing more than some £1 dinosaur finger puppets for the bath. Best thing ever. Also some buckets with holes in for the bath came a close second. Everything else was quickly forgotten 😂

Cheap, flattery plastic dolls pram with doll. ( Not sure where you’d get one now Woolworth isn’t a thing Sad)

Pop up peg toy. Really brilliant and simple. About £8.

Shape sorter but one that only has 3 or 4 shapes to sort preferably noisy.

Not a toy as such but buy little boxes one open, one with a flappy lid, one with a lid that comes right off. Then buy lots of fun textured things that they can take in and out of the boxes. Hours of fun.

Wobbly ball thing. Blow it up or in summer you can fill with water. We just blew ours up. She absolutely loved it. Loads of giggles.

Jelly bath

Den making kit. Little one will love getting in it older one making it and being in it.

Excellent ideas, we have quite a few of these already thanks to her older sister but thank you, given me some new ideas! Bath toys are definitely needed!

Shape shorter toy

I gave my DS his own rattle on his first Christmas Grin

DSD who was about 4 at the time raised her eyebrows a bit Hmm

But DS was only 2 months at the time.

I'd give the bare minimum to the 18 month old so that older DD feels a bit more special on the day

NiceDayForA · 11/11/2021 12:53

Ask older DD if she's finished with any of her toys and if she'd like to give them to DD. If not just leave it. But if yes it'll make her feel grown up and able to give joy from her own belongings .

My DD used to give me my own things as presents wrapped up because obviously she had no money as a toddler and wanted to give me something she knew I liked.

My DC favourite toy at that age was a cosy coupe car.

If you want something that take up less space:

A board book (one with a good story).

Some things that you might use up, bubble bath, toothbrushes etc.

Picture for her wall. My sister got some lovely pictures of animals and cars from Etsy from my DC.

My son's 17 months and his fave things are his kitchen and role play stuff, Julia Donaldson books, a ring stacker, mega blocks, cars/trains, a pram (not that bothered about the baby ATM lol) and balls.

Aldi have some great wooden toys like a chocolate cake, popcorn maker, little dog kennel and rabbit hutch.

This melissa and doug ice cream set has been a hit with every child I've met and it's a great price at the moment in amazon

What DD loved around that age was the Disney kitchen with pans and kettles you put on the rings that made the noise of sizzling food and a boiling kettle. Hours she played on it. She also loved her doll and crib.

A couple of years later she loved ELC happylands

And then a bit older she played with Sylvanians for many many years. We'd drive around picking up brilliant second hand items from eBay etc. TK Max would occasionally have Sylvanians plus all sorts of other great toys.
