I had everything out on the floor today and made piles of stuff to go in stockings and presents. Then did a rough tally of what I'd spent:
DD1 4yo - 75 euros presents, 35 euros stocking
DD2 15 mo - 20 euros presents, 15 euros stocking

Do you think I've been frugal or not?

Have already agreed with my sister that we won't send each others DCs presents, just write that certain things are from the cousins on the labels, saves on postage and that way we don't end up with things they dont want/need...

Do you really care what anyone else thinks? (can't bring myself to type your name cos I'm sure you're not) If you've bought things they're going to like what does it matter?

(Are you Irish by the way, I can't get my head around figures in euros!)

I would say you've been generous but not extreme. We've spent £17 on ds at 4 plus so far £7 on stocking things, I plan to spend another £6 on the stocking. He also has a birthday very shortly after Christmas on which I've spent £30 plus party which realitically will be about £30 again I think.

great idea re your sister but i have to say i love presents arriving by post so consider changing it next year if you feel it would be nice to do so.

twinkle - it's not that i care what other people think, it just seemed to add up to a lot and I'm curious as to what other people have spent. [nosy] 1 euro is about 70p i think, so you divide by 3 and double it. So, 100 euros is about 66 pounds. Am Scottish but live in Europe (chose that name as no-one can tell me off for my parenting since i've already done it myself!)

choosy - DD1 is always at school when post arrives anyway, I could go the whole hog and wrap them in brown paper with our address on i suppose...

I have spent what I can comfortably afford without borrowing or going short to do so.
Tis the only way

I have however learnt my lesson this year and shall not be so organised next year but will leave all the pressies til last minute as everything I bought seems to have halved in price lol(I made dh take it all back and buy it again)

twinkle - you're right, what counts is that they like the presents. Which is why i've decided to give DD1 more Disney princess stuff than i would really like to as it's only a phase that i'll probably remember fondly in the not too dstant future, she loves it and it doesnt do any lasting damage.....does it??!!

Well my DS is 16 months. You've spent more on your DD1 than we have on DS and a little less on DD2. But we're not talking £500 bikes here - I wouldn't say you've been extravagant. Hope you all have a good Christmas!
