@Yoyoyo1

Apart from the usual Chocs and stickers!
erasers, jewellery, temporary tattoos, stamps, lego men etc... honestly though it's all stuff you don't need 24 of.

Even mixing and matching so it's not 24 of the same thing this year after a few years it's just the same things again and again in different orders and you'll have a junk draw full of 'advent erasers' etc...

The drawers on the one we have are impossibly small so I tend to just leave 'clues' like a single bon bon with a note saying where the rest of the bag is! I also put in 'tokens' for things so a note saying "1 hour extra on the xbox" ; "dinner is whatever you choose" or "get out of clean-up duty this evening" that sort of thing! I also pop in a coin I'd prefer to put a coin in every drawer and be done with it

Love the idea of stationary!

Age has a big impact on this.

I have put in, over the years:

Lego bits (I used to buy a smallish set, and then give the relevant parts along with instruction day by day. If you choose wisely, you can get a good way through advent with them having no idea what they are actually making (only give the instructions bit by bit), which adds to the fun of it all.)

Hair bands/clips.

Mini nail varnish/nail stickers

Stationary items like bulldog clips, funky paper clips, occasionally novelty erasers (but you do end up with a pile of these!)

Obviously chocolate

Fuzzy felt sets, bit by bit.

I got mine a small wooden decorative tree one year, and they got the mini wooden decorations to hang on the tree each day in their advent calendar.

On weekend days (due to time needed) I have put in recipes for mince pies/Christmas biscuits to make later that day, or a picture of a craft activity to do.

Oh, also silly badges or key rings - ‘Chief Elf’ or ‘Santa’s helper’ etc. They went down well when the dc were small enough to still believe, and have also worked well as world-weary teens!

Thanks all - sorry meant to say they are 5 Yr old dd and 9 Yr old ds.

I've done that type of calendar for Dd since she's been a teen.

I've done the vouchers eg 'Christmas film night'...etc, but also when I had slightly bigger presents that didn't fit I put in a Lucky Dip token and put the bigger items wrapped in tissue paper in a stocking for her to choose from.
