11 year old dd ideas

Help! I haven't got a main present idea for dd.
She's a funny mix of still a child playing with dolls and wanting to experiment with makeup etc too

Her birthday was recently and that has used up most my ideas. It doesn't help that I have to think of gifts from others too.

Big hits for birthday were wireless earbuds, Harry Potter bedding, Ruby Redfort books, Fantastic beasts dvds, baby doll clothes, stationery and a hype rucksack.

Any inspiration for Christmas?

My DD is 10 and similarly torn between dolls and older stuff.

She’s recently agreed to sell/give away nearly everything in her room.

So far I’ve ordered some older bedding sets, as she’s fed up of unicorns.

Thinking of her own hairdryer, straightener set. To be used with supervision to start with.

She wants Six (the show) stuff but it’s limited. So thinking of a poster in a frame so it looks bigger than it is. And can easily be changed in future.

Also wants a basketball hoop but nowhere good to put one so on hold for now.

I’m a bit stuck, but even more stuck with my teen DS!

She's currently obsessed with the new James Bond film so a framed poster is a good idea.

She does like sporty stuff too so thinking where a netball hoop could go!

My 9 year old Dd loves her switch, so as her main gift she is getting a Pokeball Plus (this may mean nothing to you!). And also I have booked tickets to go and see Joseph - she loves Musical Theatre.

A fun board/card game, maybe a big potatoe one, they do some great ones.

Fleece blanket

Art supplies- how to draw manga seems popular with that age group.

Although I realise none of those are very main present ideas.

My ds is 11 and he has mainly asked for outdoors things, a dirt scooter, inline skates and a smart watch are top of his list.

My dds are either side age wise to your dd but some ideas. Ive got dd1 13 and dd2 9.

Dd2 is having a proper styling head like hairdressers use with a tripod and a variety of accessories. (Does come with a clamp to use on a table too). She loves dolls particularly trying out new hairstyles which she then does on me or herself so thought this could be a winner.

Dd1 loves sketching and drawing so she's having a box with all she needs and possibly a fold up easel.

They both like squishmallows soft toys, fleece blankets, and bits for their rooms.

Dd1 is getting into baking and is obsessed with baking programmes, so I'm putting together some bits for her with some printed recipes. (And the ingredients for Xmas day!)

Dd2 is having a beauty box filled with nail varnishes, those beauty face masks that look like different animals, body glitter. Looking at the UV lamps to dry the nail varnish, a headband for the beauty masks. She would love a dressing table with light up mirror but saving this for her birthday next year.

How about a sewing machine? She could make clothes for her dolls that way but won't be outgrown as she can use it to make other things too.

I made a surprise box last year for dd1, filled with funky printed clothes, tshirts, film merchandise. Kind of like those geek boxes but tailored completely to her!!

A subscription? Dd1 would love a crunchy roll subscription to watch endless anime. But loved her phoenix comics and beano ones. You can do baking ones, arty ones, magazines, if you can name it there's probably a subscription available!!

Maybe it's not a 'main present' year and you can just get lots of bits.

My 11yo DS is having:
heated throw
hand held vacuum (he's obssesed with keeping his gaming pc dust free)
velvetizer for hot chocolate
board game (why are the d&g type ones SO expensive??)
sports kit

It's just not a 'main present' sort of year. He had a Surface for his birthday because school decreed it should be so. There really isn't any more big stuff he 'needs'.

FearlessSwiftie · 08/11/2021 09:17

There is also a Fantastic beasts original screenplay- www.amazon.com/Fantastic-Beasts-Where-Find-Them/dp/1338109065?tag=mumsnetforu03-21 It's definitely more of a one-time read but the quality is good and the fan of the series would love to have it, I think (I was Grin).
James Bond also has a 2022 calendar- 007store.com/products/james-bond-2022-calendar Not sure it's appropriate though so probably would be better to make your own with pics that you approve of Hmm. There is Shutterfly where you can get the calendar or programs like Photo calendar creator (you'll need to print it out later).
Also washable makeup or something simple like lip gloss or light fragrance would be nice.

Thanks everyone. Some good ideas.
I agree maybe a few smaller things are the way to go this year. Last years surprise hit was a £5 hover above your hand stocking filler so you just can't tell

DD12 is getting a laptop this year (more useful now she is in secondary) but we almost went for a sewing machine. Last year her top birthday and Christmas presents were a second hand iphone, a lightbox for drawing, a bluetooth speaker alarm clock thing, fancy pens and an art book and tickets for an indoor skydiving experience.
