I have a couple of hampers to make up and I’ve got about £50 left in the budget so any recommendations for food type things to go in them? So far I have:

Alcohol
Whittaker’s Hot chocolate
Mince pies (from a local bakery)
Christmas candles
Christmas chutney
Fancy cheese and crackers
Shortbread
Terry’s chocolate orange

I thought maybe a box of Thornton’s but are they a bit boring?? Tell me what you think Smile

Absolutely no to Thorntons. Nothing cheap either, and no tea towels etc. No to candles.

Those florentines from Waitrose would be nice, or Garners pickled onions and red cabbage if the recipient would like them. Or nice chutney, if they like chutney.

Basically, think things you know they like but an upgraded version. Or yes to local things - local honey, fudge or cheese for example.

@RAFHercules

When are you going yo give it yo them? I hate being given Christmas good on Christmas day when I've already bought it! I'd much rather be given the gift mid December then I font duplicate.
Yup My Christmas pudding this year, arrived in a hamper on 23/12 last year!

Definitely posh crisps.

Won’t the candles make the food smell/taste funny?

Shameless placemarking!

Ooh. Also a magic zapper that means I am alone when I receive & consume the hamper.

Hawkens Gingerbread - it's gorgeous artisan Grantham gingerbread! 🤤🤤 I love the chocolate orange men personally. But I know they do stars, trees at this time of year

I do them for older relatives who don't drink so no alcohol. I do things like nice tea, biscuits, lots of sweet treats like you find in Europe Christmas markets but the boxed equivalents from shops (ie nothing fresh that will need immediate delivery or immediate eating), posh jams and chutneys to eat with cold cuts, crackers and oat cakes etc.

I put something in for everyone in the household so I usually include dog treats

I had a great one for Xmas last year with loads of ginger things in it. This year I've just had a birthday one with loads of exciting spices, chillies and cooking ingredients. Every bit of that will get used. It's all about knowing your recipient!

TK Maxx have lovely bottles of soap that I always buy and look lovely for the price.

Waitrose lebkuchen selection. £3.50 a box and you get a great selection.
Decent crackers for cheese.
