My parents want to know. I have no idea. Am guessing around £50.

If I didn’t already have some, house boots from Celtic Sheepskin. Central heating for feet! You can wear them out of doors but the soles are lighter than for their outdoor ones.
More than £50 though, but made in Cornwall, not China or anywhere else.

I really want this.

What do I want for Christmas?
henrylmosley · 05/11/2021 10:09

I want children to be free in their choices and not limit themselves in anything.

languagelover96 · 05/11/2021 10:11

Baubles
Happiness
Flowers
Toys

For Christmas?!

Tricky to wrap though.
henrylmosley · 05/11/2021 10:24

yes Hmm

Howshouldibehave · 05/11/2021 10:31

@henrylmosley

yes Hmm
Just wondering who you’d be asking for that one?!
Mogloveseggs · 05/11/2021 10:34

I've asked for a Pyrex roasting dish and an oxo potato peeler. Not to everyone's taste though Grin

henrylmosley · 05/11/2021 10:35

Santa Claus

M0rT · 05/11/2021 10:39

@DentalWorries Zara have a cream oversized wool cardigan at the moment that I'm living in at the desk. So warm and big enough to go over jumpers comfortably

mam0918 · 05/11/2021 12:43

see this is why I HATE being asked, anything I can think of that I really want or need that's £50 I can easily buy myself.

The point of a gift is the effort and thought, If I'm doing all the effort of trying to think something up it's not a gift it's a job you have given me.

The best gifts I ever got are things I didn't know existed until I was given them.

Noeuf · 05/11/2021 13:52

Maybe you are lucky mam0918 and dropping £50 every time you want something isn’t possible for everyone? There’s lots of things I’d like for that price and under and waiting til Christmas is fine.

Shufflebumnessie · 05/11/2021 14:27

Normally I struggle to think of what I'd like but this year I've seen a crossbody bag in Next (but it's currently out of stock).
I'd love a necklace with my children's names on but I've not found any I like (& to have it custom made would be out of my price range I think!).
I'd also like fluffy, warm socks.
Soft pyjamas
Pair of earrings from my favourite independent jewellers (Normally £20 -30 a pair).
Box of Guylian chocolates.

lol, I live in the poorest area, I'm self-employed and my income is 8k a year (gone down from 12k before lockdown), £50 still isn't a crazy amount of money if you really want or need something and if you don't really want it or need it then spending it for the sake of it is wasteful.

I'm not going to not buy stuff when I see it or need it just so I can save it up for later so someone else can buy it at Xmas.

I have a friend whose kids get money every Xmas and the go-to Primark on boxing day and drop £200 on random crap for the sake of it and it never ceases to baffle me... they also complain about always being broke though too which they might not be if the didn't spend for spending sake.

At the same time though, I find it wasted on unneccasery 'luxuries' so all the suggestions of cashmere scarves/socks, expensive chocolate or brand bath bombs seem stupid to me, the normal not crazy priced ones work exactly the same and I struggle to get excited over £50 worth of soap and socks (in fact it makes the financially wise part of me scream).

vintage silk scarf (from ebay, etsy)
vintage jewellery (as above)
cross body bag, non-leather
a book - if I've already read it, many bookshops will exchange it
silk pillowcase
diffuser from local small business
chutneys from small business
Vegan 'cheese' hamper (la Fauxmagerie)
Bottle of port or nice gin
Crackers for the non-cheese
a pot of hyacinth bulbs
amarylis bulb
a good torch
nuxe lip balm
a cushion in beautiful colours from a small craft maker
a pottery water jug (mine broke)
a really good strong compact umbrella
bamboo socks in lovely designs
special double thickness walking socks

I'd really like a waterproof hat that suits me, won't squash my hair, and stays on in the wind, but I don't think anyone can find that.

mrsbyers · 05/11/2021 16:51

Lego flowers

Noeuf · 05/11/2021 17:44

Ok mami098 not sure what your wall of text is on about. You can afford to buy what you want when you want and don’t want to make a Christmas list. Thanks for sharing.

Noeuf · 05/11/2021 17:46

I’m adding

A nice diary
Thick indoor socks
A non fiction book on something like the Tsar Nicholas

NettleMania · 05/11/2021 17:50

I really like the idea of tickets for the theatre or at a local restaurant.

SiulaGrande · 05/11/2021 18:05

I've asked my parents for
This works leg oil (Mum previously bought this spontaneously so she's happy I like it)
Liberty Faber diary
Fi Glover and Jane Garvey's book

Total about £60

I feel the same @mam0918. Lucky enough to be able to buy any books etc that I want. But they like to get me something to open.

I usually ask for the chanel mademoiselle body moisture mist. It's about 30 pounds a bottle and I use it instead of perfume everyday because either much cheaper, and I love the smell. It's nice and fresh and nowhere near as strong as the perfume (which I save for special occasions).

I love the champagne and other alcoholic truffles from hotel chocolate.

Last year my mil got me My favourite gin. I asked for the liquor, but she got me the proper gin version. Maybe she thought I needed something a bit stronger🤣

This year I have no idea what I want.
