We are supporting a local little charity this year who will be giving them out within local homeless shelters and food banks.

Age 3-6 years. Boy.

Any good ideas?

I have some new mini play mobile figures so far.
Winter basic clothing like gloves also asked for, do you think it’s better to just give one thicker pair, or those multi packs?

What is the budget?

Enough4me · 04/11/2021 15:36

Pair of warm gloves, hat, set of warm but fun socks, can you add in crayons and notebook?

Caspianberg · 04/11/2021 15:40

No particular budget set by charity. I’m probably looking to spend £30-50.

The play mobile little figure sets we already have ( they are new) so won’t include in budget. ( collected via supermarket tokens a few months back for Ds and doubled up on some)

A ball of some sort. Some sweets. Toy car or similar. A fidget toy.

Wilko's do fake lego kits with the smallest ones only be £1 and easy to fit into a shoebox

MissyB1 · 04/11/2021 15:51

Hot wheels car
Beanie or bobble hat
Fun stationary
Character flannel or magic flannel

Nosilayak · 04/11/2021 15:51

Thanks to everyone who does this. I adopted my son aged 4, and one of the most precious things he brought with him was a shoebox he'd been presented with at a Christmas party for looked after children he'd attended whilst in Foster care.

It seems a shame that at £30-£50 it has to fit in a shoebox, you could get many good quality 'proper' Xmas presents for that amount but they won't fit in a shoebox.

The tree gifts from me that I get my 3-year-old only cost £40 but virtually non fit in a shoebox.

Great ideas so far.

Can definitely add colouring book and pens.

It’s not in Uk so no poundshops Locally. I see I can get actual Lego the 4+ type which are decent small sets for around €10-15 so maybe that as ‘main’ gift isn’t a bad idea.

Will probably pop to h and m next week for wintery basics.

@Nosilayak - that’s lovely to hear. These will potentially go to children in a similar environment. Is there anything in particular your son really liked in his box?

@mam0918 - I think it’s a size restriction so it can easily be carried home and not take up much space if they are in temporary or limited housing

Matchbox cars and stickers are always a hit with my soon to turn three year old boy.
He so loves the "ten little" book series.
Those planes that you slot together and throw into the air.
Little slinky toys you can get in a Tesco multipack.

Play doh
Felt pens with drawing pad
Small hot wheels car
Small Lego set
Haribo
Chocolate Father Christmas
Fun gloves and hat not boring and plain
Little figures such as superzings
Soft toy
Nothing that needs batteries and things that can be used lots.

Bqmbiiiiii · 04/11/2021 18:16

Small lego 4+ set, hot wheels car, some fun but warm socks or gloves- one nicer thicker pair is what I'd opt for - will be more of a treat than a basic multipack, a colouring book and crayons or pencils with a pencil sharpener, chocolate, stickers, magic flannel, some novelty/ shaped soap or something like a bomb cosmetics soap bar that is a swirl of different colours, small Teddy.

A book.
A yoyo.
Game such as dominoes, or picture snap cards.
Selection box.
Jigsaw puzzle.
Comic.

katienana · 04/11/2021 21:35

A popit! They are such a craze at the moment any kid would be happy to get one. Playdoh and some cutters/rolling pin. A pencil case (my 5 year old likes Minions and Mario at the moment) with a character on, filled with pens and post it notes and bits like that. Lego is a good idea

Cherryrainbow · 04/11/2021 23:16

Aw lovely. Bit of a random idea but for shoe boxes I've done in the past I stuck on print outs like colouring in pages or dot to dots etc on the inside of the lid.

Toiletries if acceptable
Chocolate/sweets
Mini puzzle
Small soft toy
Mini lego set
Dinosaurs/animals/figures
Toy cars
Gloves and hat
Playdoh and a cutter
Blind bags/mystery toys
Toy story figures
Small game set
Glow in the dark stars/shapes
Stickers
Small board book
Colouring book and crayons/pens
Dress up items like masks/pirate Eye patch
