hi keep having mini panic attacks. i promised myself to be restrained this year and dd is not getting a 'big' item from santa because
a. she doesn't need anything
b. she hasn't asked for anything apart from some dresssing up stuff.

so i have got her a belle dress (against my better judgement but it was reduced in tkmax), some dress up shoes and jewellry. some paints and a pink towel. i will probably buy some books as well and maybe a bucket of lego.

i just find myself being sucked into the hysterical world of butterscotch ponies etc and am worried dd will be all sad on christmas day. (not judging butterscotch pony purchaser btw it is just dd doesn't want one).

How old is she? It sounds like you have got her lovely presents, just what she wanted. I'm sure she will be really happy. Children don't need loads spent on them to be pleased, especially when they're little.

thank you thank you. she is nearly 4 i am sure it will be fine!

why don't you do your dd a promise present - like if she loves going to the zoo, get her a stuffed elephant and attach a note to it saying in summer you promise to take her for a day out at the zoo, burgers, ice creams, balloons the lot.

I might use the idea myself and stick a packet of condoms with appropriate note in dp's stocking. Not sure he wouldn't prefer a trip to the zoo though

What you have got her sounds just fine to me. I am always proud of my kids that they do not go overboard with their Christmas wishes - I always get them a little surprise as well as what they have asked for and they have never seemed disappointed on the day.

that sounds lovely! I'm sure she will be over the moon.

We've not bought ds loads either (he's only 22m), some clothes, a table & chair set and a train set! He gets so much from everyone else and just doesn't need most of it!

A 4 year old will be really chuffed with all those presents. They sound fab. Personally I think is a bit unhealthy to get into the whole 'must buy more' xmas thing - is no bad thing for children to learn about exercising some restraint.

mylittleponey · 12/12/2007 14:28

sounds lovely - she'll have a super christmas all dressed up

SheherazadetheSwedishjulbok · 12/12/2007 14:52

thanks everyone. if dd starts weeping inconsolably on christmas morning i will blame you lot!

I think those sound lovely presents. She will be delighted. I am feeling the same way re my DD1 who is 3 1/2. But she is just loving the whole "Christmas" atmosphere - parties, church nativity, nursery trip, all her family on Christmas day, decorations etc.. I'm trying to bring her to appreciate what Christmas is really about, and not just the pressies! Have a lovely Christmas with your DD.
