New Year's Eve and Day

I'm thinking of nice things to do on New Year's Eve day and/or New Year's Day as a family (namely DH, DD5 and DD3).

We always have a nice evening on NYE getting a take away, watching a film and seeing the new year in at midnight watching the fireworks out of the window (not very glam but I love it). But we never do anything in particular on New Year's Day so I am thinking of a nice way to end 2021/ start 2022.

What do you all do?

I’m Scottish so I have steak pie..it’s kinda the law in Scotland to have steak pie on ne’er day.

Pantomime?

The rest of the day I dunno. I don’t clean as you wash away luck, no washing clothes etc. Old superstitions die hard. We usually go for a walk if the weather is dry but just do what you enjoy, watch a film or play games etc.

I went through a phase of watching live football on Xmas day with my husband. Non premier-league team do it wasn’t that pricey. I’m not that fussed about football but I liked the tradition.

We used to go 10 Pin Bowling on NYE when the DC were younger .
Then off to McDonalds .

Usually now I work NYE (but try to have Christmas Eve as A/L)

And YY to no washing done . DH will run the dishwasher , he's off to Hell-In-A-HandCart Xmas Shock

We usually go to the beach(about 45mins away) on NYE or NY day. A brisk walk wrapped up in hats and wellies followed by fish and chips. Cant beat it.

We've been lucky and had bright blue skies for the past 5 years Grin

Over the two days we’ll have a nice roast dinner (usually pork or beef) and we’ll go out to a National Trust property for a nice walk around - depends what the weather is like on each day.

This year a lot of properties are doing Percy the Park Keeper trails which is probably the right age for your oldest so might be worth looking into.

And YY to no washing!
