Curious really. I have two boys 4 and nearly 2yo. Every single thing is orientated towards them for Christmas which is of course absolutely right. But. This is the first year in ~5 years I haven't had to restrict drinking, eating, had god awful sleep due to being pregnant, breastfeeding or having a tiny baby cosleeping in bed with me.that or being just so exhausted I go to bed at the same time as them 😂 not complaining as I know I am very fortunate, but I feel its time for me to get a break and bit of ME back.

So. I'm adamant that this year when the kids are asleep, out will come my treats. So far... . Drum roll. I have brought myself a box of m&s biscuits, some m&s truffles and some green and blacks chocolate. I also have the Holland and barret christmas beauty box that was in the clearance, from the bargain thread a while back. I've brought DH uno flip and Blokus for us to play together too like the old days! Not alot in terms of glamour perhaps but I'm SO excited none the less. I love my kids to death but I'm really looking forward to getting some time to enjoy grown up bits.

Anyone else want to share?

Good quality dark chocolate, some nice mixed nuts and a nice bottle of Prosecco. I’ll probably get some nice cheese and cured meats too.

KurtWildeWitchOfTheWoods · 30/10/2021 06:34

I'm treating myself to a good quality choccy filled advent calendar. Haven't decided which one yet. And I've decided to fill myself a stocking from Father Christmas this year, all nice bits and bobs that I know I'll enjoy.

  1. Eggnog with a little brandy or mulled wine once baby one kids are in bed.
  2. We put the tree up ridiculously early in November so we can enjoy the evening in fairy lights for as long as possible. I’ve also invested in fancy decorations. You won’t find any garish Santa’s in my house. Grin
  3. Christmas movies and scrabble.
WakeUpLockie · 30/10/2021 11:04

Epic cheeseboard and antipasti for Xmas eve dinner for me and DH 😍 although we’re not at home this Xmas so we’ll miss it 😭

secretbookcase · 30/10/2021 11:27

I buy geranium and orange bath oil from Neal's Yard and a winter candle from White Stuff for long deep baths.

Zoopet · 30/10/2021 12:56

I treat myself to the Harrods Christmas Bear!

MrsSkylerWhite · 30/10/2021 12:57

Brown Sherry and pork pie Grin

Brogues · 30/10/2021 14:25

I’ve treated myself to a Christmas candle from Diptyque in the summer sale already. I usually get a few new decorations for the tree when they are discounted but obviously because of lockdown that didn’t happen this year so I’m tempted by one special Liberty bauble instead. Other than that, some nice non-alcoholic drinks, posh cheese, fire on and a trashy film will suit me just fine!

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 30/10/2021 14:57

Our Xmas box comes out when tree goes up first weekend december. I include in it treats for me like a footner, hair mask, new fluffy socks, nice chocolate. I get stuff for dh and DD too but I like to also treat myself as I don't normally through the year.

lazylinguist · 30/10/2021 14:58

My dc are teens, but tbh I sleep worse and cope less well with booze, rich food and late nights than I did when they were little (curse aging and probably perimenopause!). I can't say I particularly neglected the adult side of Christmas back then, and I still don't now - I just pay for it later!

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 30/10/2021 15:03

what makes it for me is no illnesses and injuries that require a trip to A&E.
that's it. that's all I want for Christmas (and every day)

languagelover96 · 30/10/2021 15:03

I think that I will have baubles again this year. Organic meat sounds nice as well served with cheese and red or white wine on a tray too. I might buy myself some sweets and chocolates to have for after dinner as a snack whilst watching movies etc.

I may even do a Christmas cake, fondue or cheese and fruit platter that can be passed round the table at dinner time. I looked at puzzle vases last night in bed yet I am unsure what one to get myself however. Mince pies sound nice but I am not really keen on them though. I like festive crackers and Santa biscuits.

Try Coole Swan instead of Baileys if you can find it, I was a lover of Baileys (Wednesday night was scouts night when my son was younger, he'd stay in my parents that night and I'd have a night off, watch Desperate Housewifes and make a Baileys milkshake, why was I able to do that and be thin back then?) but since finding Coole Swan about 13 years ago I haven't bought Baileys. It's just so nice.

MintJulia · 30/10/2021 15:16

I buy real beeswax candles, they smell faintly of honey.

Christmas eve, after everything is done and ds has gone to bed, I turn off the tv, relax in front of the fire, with a glass of fizz, some of those tiny olive scones and play old CDs. Smile

100% agree - Coole Swan is absolutely delicious! I always buy it from John Lewis.
DockOTheBay · 30/10/2021 16:28

A big serving of Baileys over ice on Christmas Eve

Hexenhaus · 30/10/2021 16:56

For me it's bath stuff, not decided where to buy it yet (reading for ideas-like the sound of Neal's Yard) but I want to get some really lovely smelling bath oil and probably some new skin care products too. I love having a bath mid-morning on Christmas day once everything's prepped for dinner and the kids are happy playing. Then over Christmas find some time for a late night or early morning bath when everyone's sleeping on days when I'm not working. Always feels like such a treat. Some special tea too, I've got the T2 advent calendar so I'm looking forward to finding a calm moment each day to drink it in.

teddybearsbear · 30/10/2021 19:48

I treat myself to a couple of cheesy Christmas novels usually three for £5 from the works and read them through December

Likewise also treat myself to a couple of Christmas magazines when I never buy magazines the rest of the year

Buy party food for weekends although we don't actually have any parties it means I don't actually have to cook meals and we just live off picky food which somehow feels like a treat

Although Christmas tree shopping is all about the DC I always choose a lovely fresh wreath for my front door sounds poncy but it really is my own little tradition just for me

Also agree with PP that a nice scented candle in a festive scent is lovely

Brogues · 30/10/2021 20:24

Oh rose tea if I can get it.

Fernhilde · 30/10/2021 21:21

Other than a few hours with my lovely mum, I shall be alone. Planning to buy myself a few gifts, I love the jigsaw idea above. Also to enjoy snuggling with my dogs.

Timetoeat · 30/10/2021 21:24

A Christmas book, an Christmas Colouring book , some comfy Pjs and wooly socks. After Eights and peanuts to eat while watching Christmas movies. 🎄😍

FireworkParrot · 30/10/2021 22:49

A cheeseboard. DH doesn't really like cheese (can't believe I married him Xmas Wink) but I go to the cheese counter at a local farm shop, buy a few just for me and have ALL the cheese with crackers and chutney.

I also like making cocktails at Christmas just for sitting at home watching TV. It's not something I usually do so it feels really decadent to have my feet up on the sofa sipping an espresso martini.

Legoisawesome · 30/10/2021 22:53

I like to get myself a fun advent calendar (as a house this year we have a dice calendar, an exit game one, a pawprint badge challenge one and for me I have a stationary one.
Nice chocolate is a must. Also mulled wine and the log burner going.
I also like crackers that aren’t tat - have pretty magnet ones this year.

Basically some treats we wouldn’t have other times of the year. For me though the biggest thing is us having a couple of weeks of family time as my husband always saves some annual leave to have a decent amount of time off.

lavenderlemon · 30/10/2021 23:48

@DentalWorries

For the work Christmas party I will treat myself to a nice new dress, a blow dry and a MAC make over. I tell myself that the makeover doesn’t really cost anything as you get to spend the cost on products and I always need more make up Grin
Definitely go to Charlotte tilbury instead of MAC @DentalWorries Much nicer makeup and lovely, glowy Christmassy vibes! I agree it feels like a lovely treat when you can get the products after too!
HomeSliceKnowsBest · 31/10/2021 05:43

I've decided to treat myself to train DD7 that I am of value and deserve spoiling.
So far I have, kids night vision binoculars (will upgrade if required), the Dave Spud annual and book,
A litre bottle of Baileys (which probably won't get drunk, but it's Christmas, Hot Wheels giant loop the loop, sheepskin slippers.
I will add hand made individually chosen chocolates nearer the time.
