Is it nativity week this week? Looking forward to it?

DD has her nativity shows this afternoon and tomorrow morning. She is a sheep, along with the rest of her class. As her school is pretty small it is a whole school nativity.

This year I am ending up going twice. DH can't go until tomorrow morning, and wants me to go with him. But DD also has a party straight from school tonight, and if parents are at the show children can leave straight away, rather than waiting for the end of the school day. So she has made me promise to go along today too! As I am off work on sick leave for next few weeks I said it would be fine and I will go along

Looking forward to watching it, although as I am on high dose HRT tablets at the moment, I am hoping it is not too emotional when they all come on looking sweet and start singing!

Who else has nativities this week?

I don't know what DS is - in rehersals he has been Joseph, a King, a shepherd and Joseph again.

School haven't said who is doing what - seems odd don't you think?

Going to see him on Thursday

Our was last week - god, I love 'em! DD was a donkey and she was excellent obviously!

jenpet · 11/12/2007 12:03

We have ours on Saturday. I love them too!! Last year it was outside & they had real proper animals, and like you Hulababy it is a tidgy school (56 children in total) so everyone gets involved. Not sure what to expect this year but I have been practising "Jingle Bells" as requested with the little ones when I have them for English, and all DS will tell me is he is a "flocon de neige" for a bit of it! Can't wait!!

JoyeuxNoelBiggy · 11/12/2007 12:03

Watched DD1 as an angel yesterday. Instead of singing she was mugging it up and dancing. At the end of Jingle Bells she shouted "CUCKOO".

I asked her why and she said she wanted to make everyone laugh. She's just turned 4. While I'm sorry for the teachers that she didn't behave, I'm actually, secretly, really proud of her. Crowd pleaser!

I am going tomorrow, first one, as he started school this year.

DS is singing, and told me for weeks he would rather stay at home and do something more fun and not go to the play!

I said if he didn't want me to come along I could do that, but he said I must come then told me yesterday after seeing KS2 play that his play was better as there was no evil in it and not sad!

Anyone else being charged to see the play?
Ours is only 50p, but I am sure when I was a kid they put it on for free to parents!

Mine DS's nativity is this afternoon (he's 5) and a donkey..was complaining this morning on the way to school "Its so embaressing-I have to wear a tail-I hate tails" !?

Can't wait to watch

Went today and it was lovely Wasn't quite as I had thought though as I had assumed it was a full nativity. It was, however, A Christmas Carol, with a nativity part way through -- Tiny Tim and his father went to see it at the church.

DD's is Friday - it is a pre-school one and her very first. Am definitely bound to blub even though she is just singing in the chorus but the blubbing's obligatory isn't it ???

ds2 was a donkey and had to act being in pain as he made the long trip to bethlehem. He did very well !And said his line "ooh my poor back" nice and clearly!

Ds1 - who is 8 and completely non verbal was videoed singing Little Donkey - it was played at his concert today (and yep for the first time ever I missed a school play). My mum went, she was in tears, his teacher was in tears, I was in tears when told about it.

dragonstitcher · 12/12/2007 10:30

DD3's is this afternoon. Usually KS1 do the nativity and KS2 have a panto. This year DD3 is in year 3, her first year of KS2 and they have changed it. They are having a carol concert. I thought it was a shame that they aren't dressing up this year. I'm sure I will enjoy it and have a lump in my throat as usual.

GrumpYULEhorsewoman · 12/12/2007 10:59

DD2 had hers yesterday. She was Mary in a play called Donkey For Sale. She had one line "Please, little donkey, can you take me to Befle'em"

They then sang a song about her called 'Pretty Lady dressed in blue'.

Twas marvellous.

dd's nursery are staging it twice, once tomorrow and once on friday, as not all children attend every day so this is capturing most child/parent availablility. DH and I are going on Friday. I am dreading it, last year she was Angel Gabriel and as soon as she saw us in the audience she started wailing (she was 2.6yo) and was inconsolable when we had to go back to work. This year she is an angel again and I have a sneaking suspicion that history will repeat itself. I'm even contemplating not going, as I think that will be easier on her, but I really want to see her and she may well be equally upset if no-one turns up to see her.
