How many people do you buy for?

And how much do you spend per person/child….not including your own dc?

I’m just writing a list of people I need to buy for, 9 children and 10 adults, I have cut down on who I buy for but can’t really reduce it much more, the kids are mainly my DC’s nieces and nephews (my ex’s children’s children), so I buy them gifts from my dc who are not yet adults and then my niece and nephew. The adults are my parents and their partners (both remarried), my best friend, and my one remaining grandparent as well as the DC’s father and his partner (again I buy a token gift from the dc).

So if I spend £10-£15 on each that’s still over £200 😭

How much do you spend on each child/person? And how many are you buying for?

Are there any good token gift ideas for under £10 that will get used and not end up in landfill?

This year it will be

ds(17)
3 nephew/niece, 2 of which are teens now so it will be cash in a card
the dog.

Both mine and dhs family stopped buying gifts years ago for adults (stop buying for kids when they reached 21). We did buy for grandparents /parents before they died. Dh and I dont even bother exchanging gifts anymore unless there is something specific we want.

It is brilliant not to have the pressure and just enjoy Christmas itself.

When my husband was alive and there used to be a big family gathering (six brothers, parents and step parents, girlfriends etc) he'd buy for them all, around £20-30 each. That's stopped now.
My parents have passed away so I only buy for my two kids, my two stepsons, in laws, and my two sisters and one niece. I guess I spend about £50-75 on each sister, £50 on niece, about £75-100 on each stepson and about £50 on a Christmas flower arrangement for my in laws. I spend loads more on my kids (teens).
I only get additional token gifts if I'm seeing someone over the holidays (we are visiting my cousin so will bring her a gift about £20-30 plus a bottle of something).

@JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn

My sister declared no presents for anyone over 18 about 10 years ago.

So as a single parent I haven't had a Christmas present for 10 years! She has gifts from her husband, and he also sorts out presents from their children. It makes Christmas a miserable affair for me but I can just spend my money on DD Smile

Hugs. We tried kids-only for a few years. All of my many brothers and sisters have 1 or 2 children and a partner, except one who spends Christmas alone. I'm proposing household gifts this year so no-one misses out. It's fun watching your kids open gifts and if they are games or chocolate the whole family gets to share them anyway. Might also suggest the adult nieces and nephews send something too.
