20 year old ideas

Any ideas for a 20 year old boy. At uni but got everything he needs. No specific interests really. Would be a bit worried about buying clothes for him. I've asked and he says there's nothing he can think of that he'd like! I'm so stuck but would like him to have something to unwrap on Christmas day.

He must have some interests!

How does he spend his time outside of lectures, reading, etc.?

uncomfortablydumb53 · 22/10/2021 13:23

I'm having the same problem with my DS3 aged 20
He already has everything I've suggested!
So far, I've bought a Carhartt hoodie he sent me a link to
Does he need any computer accessories?
2 of mine have had a Logitech mouse( one gaming, one not) and we're delighted
AirPods? Depending on budget obviously

Crosstrainer or other gym equipment if he likes to keep fit?
Coffee machine?

Trainers( sorry, adding ideas as I thought of them!)

Boxers, socks, after shave, other toiletries eg shower gel same brand as his favourite after shave, his favourite alcoholic beverage. I have 4 DSs in their 20s & buy these sorts of things for Christmas.

Aftershave
Trainers
Clothes (can ask what he wants)
New bag for uni
Just eat voucher for whilst at uni
Starbucks voucher
Headphones

Things I have bought for both DSs over the years (now 23 and 20) - clothing that they send me links to (!) or occasionally something that I know I can't go too wrong with - Carhartt and Nike seem to be fairly fail safe choices. DS1 is a bit sporty so running tops/shorts/trainers or stuff for cycling - padded shorts or a cycling jersey. Also bought microfibre towels and hooded towels for beach stuff.

Both quite like aftershave, shower stuff or shaving things. I have also bought DS2 tickets for theatre shows or cookery/baking stuff.

DS1 who is now in a house share was very happy with an espresso pot and a toasted sandwich maker. Last year DS2 got a stand for his laptop - very useful in COVID times as they are still online for lectures a lot.

For a uni room, hydroponic plants, a rug, back support cushions (again, online lectures!), noticeboard (one that you can prop against a wall as you can't drill in) water bottles/coffee mugs, backpack or various bits of luggage have been bought over the years for weekend trips home or longer travels.

I'm sure there's more but I can't think right now!

I also have a 20 year old boy who needs nothing.

He even just bought himself 3 new hoodies last week.

So far this year I have bought a laptop stand, a book on his fave football team, a Lynx shower gel set, a tub of Haribo.

He’s fussy about food. Has a beard so doesn’t wear aftershave. Doesn’t read books. Not hugely sporty and has weights etc. Doesn’t drink hot drinks.

It’s not easy!

Waterpik
Oodie type top
Velvetiser
...

...

I'm struggling too. All my ideas ran out a few Christmases ago!

He would probably prefer the money instead, this age group like to get a bit of cash, and do what they like with it.

yikesanotherbooboo · 22/10/2021 14:14

Rice cooker?
Coffee machine
Pasta machine
Ear phones
Bone conduction head phones if they are runners
Fitbit
Overnight bag
Suit carrier

mumonthehill · 22/10/2021 14:15

Things to do, driving experience, concert, football match, theatre tickets. Fall back cash which we do often now. Still buy the stocking type bits but cash seems to be a winner. It is very hard!

goose1964 · 22/10/2021 16:23

My son, now a bit older, loved stuff for cooking.

Cherryrainbow · 22/10/2021 16:25

When I was at uni I loved having vouchers for tesco and things like snack hampers or toiletry/pampering type hampers

cheapskatemum · 22/10/2021 16:52

Mine all have beards too! Maybe I should have said cologne rather than after shave. They still want to smell nice.

WaitWhatOh · 22/10/2021 21:15

My uni kids love getting gift cards for coffee shops - they can go for coffee with friends or even buy a sandwich for lunch by themselves. You can put the voucher in a nice travel cup.
