How to wrap/box second hand playmobil?

DD is nearly 3 and is only just starting to do bits of imaginative play. I managed to get a job lot of second hand playmobil off FB marketplace for £15 - there’s about 6 big expensive sets worth in there so would have cost well over £100 originally. Bargain. But at the moment it’s all just piled into a bag together although they did also include the instructions/pictures for each set. Any ideas of how I could present these nicely and so that each set can be easily wrapped? Thanks

Could you perhaps get some plain cardboard gift boxes and stick the picture of each set of the front of the boxes then wrap them in Christmas wrapping paper?

Bimblybomeyelash · 19/10/2021 10:22

I’d simply put each set into a separate ziplock bag with the instructions at the front. Then wrap each set individually. If you have 6 sets then I would save some of them for their birthday!

Previous years I've got a nice box from pound land or home bargains and put the playmobil in one of those, they look lovely and festive.

We had a second hand zoo and farm set when my dsughter was 3 at Christmss. I didn't wrap them. I set the sets up into a big play scene in front of the Christmas tree. 3 is young enough to not yet have fixed ideas about wrapping paper and it means they can straight away see what it is and start playing.

I bought tubs like these and put sets in them, worked brilliantly.

Youseethethingis · 19/10/2021 12:13

I'd set it up ready to play too. Maybe cover it with a sheet of tissue paper for a big reveal.
I'm actively unboxing gifts as they arrive so I can get rid of as much packaging as I go and not deal with a backlog at the end of December!

At three I’d probably build the items and set it up for play. Put it on our tuff tray to use it as a play table and put a sparkly table cloth over the top.

At that age they don't notice that it's second hand and that original wrapping is missing. Some years ago I bought my son a second hand Playmobile pirate ship with accessories. We assembled it fully, put the accessories inside and wrapped all in wrapping paper. He absolutely loved it.

You could put them in little drawstring sacks with the pictures as tags. These could then be used to store the sets.

Buy some nice boxes that will last so that you can keep the sets in after Christmas, print a picture of each set and tape it to the front, I doubt a three year old would care about nice pretty boxes.

Incywinceyspider · 19/10/2021 19:45

Have a think about how you will store it in the future. I'd get a storage box for each set and wrap them in those

parrotonmyshoulder · 19/10/2021 20:05

I always built them and set them out - at that age a sheet of wrapping paper or a sparkly piece of fabric over the top worked. In fact, DD opened all her other presents one year without noticing the giant playmobil castle ‘hidden’ on the table.
Always bought it second hand. Really should get round to selling it. Fairies anyone?

shouldistop · 19/10/2021 20:09

I store things like that in plastic boxes with handles. Could you put it into boxes and wrap them?

HalzTangz · 19/10/2021 20:40

Could you get appropriate sized cardboard boxes to wrap each set in

DressedUpAtAnIvy · 19/10/2021 20:43

Use whatever box you will store them in.

Itistimeforquiche · 19/10/2021 20:48

I'd set it up for the giving. It takes ages and 3 yo olds won't be able to or want to wait to build it from instructions.

My 3yo had a fancy set given one Xmas from grandparents took ages and she was very bored. Similar when my other child got one at 4. Wish I'd set it up. .

get storage boxes for after

user64323 · 19/10/2021 20:51

Clear plastic boxes to store each set and print and laminate the box picture on the sides maybe?

EcoCustard · 19/10/2021 21:37

Not sure how big the sets are but have them all set up and then wrap the set. I love Playmobil but it can be a faff to set it up. I always set the DC’s up, then they sit in the box and over wrap. Buy a gift box or just wrap the set. Eldest Dc got the big farm for his 3rd birthday but it took me an age to build it, whilst he sat on me saying is it built yet Mummy? Grin each set has its own trofadt box and the building sits on top.

Newnews · 19/10/2021 22:33

Thanks for all the ideas. I think I will split the sets between her birthday and Christmas (only a week apart so may even hold some back if she seems overwhelmed). I might have one already set out to play maybe by the tree and with a bit of gift wrap laid over the top (but not properly wrapped) and then do the other sets in boxes. I will maybe try to find a box that looks nice but also practical for keeping them in afterwards, any suggestions? So far I can either find boxes that look nice but are not practical for a 3 year old OR are good practical storage boxes but look boring. I suppose I could get some of those and then wrap them up?

Depends on how big the sets are. The Works have lovely child friendly boxes, we use them to store our Playmobil sets and other toys. They are very sturdy, had ours about 10 years now, they still look great.
