I love Jo Malone and NEOM.

What other companies compare? Anything less pricey?!

Jo Malone
The White Company
Neom
The little candle co (based Sussex with Jo esq scents)

HelloDulling · 15/10/2021 22:08

I love Diptyque, and the Cowshed candles are v nice too.

NotMyCat · 15/10/2021 22:11

Botanical candle company
Boujee bougies
Seven seventeen

Ricekrispie22 · 16/10/2021 05:16

Diptyque are even more expensive then Neom.
I like Scandinavisk and Stoneglow.

Etherealhedgehog · 16/10/2021 06:04

I loved Thomas Street, but specifically a sandalwood one they have now discontinued. Haven't tried any others. Also, the only candle I have ever loved enough to buy again was a sleep one from a company called McKinley and Paget - it's now renamed 'Amongst the Blossom in Blenheim Gardens' and smells slightly different/not quite as perfect, but still nice

Geamhradh · 16/10/2021 07:13

Isle of Skye candles, or Skye or something like that, are excellent.
I'm fine with a Christmas Yankee tbf, but I got DD a couple of these and they were gorgeous.
Lots of people rate St. Eval on here but I had a shocking experience when DD ended up at doctor's pouring with black snot that we couldn't work out the provenance of but we're v worried about. Soot. If a small candle in a big room does that to a 17 year old, then I don't want it. When I emailed them they were less than friendly.

Theredjellybean · 16/10/2021 07:16

I love St Eval and have never had soot problems

Geamhradh · 16/10/2021 07:26

In fairness, they said it was probably a faulty batch. Then shrugged. So a combination of the "faulty batch" and the customer service has put me off.

My favourite are Self Care Company, great collection of aromatherapy blends made from soy wax. Nothing artificial!

Cinnamon, Wild Orange and clove is lovely for winter and I also buy the Rose & Bergamot one.

BangingOn · 16/10/2021 19:56

I ordered Lovato candles, recommended on here as they had 50% off, and I’ve been impressed. I think they are doing 50% off again this weekend.

My absolute favourite candles are Rebecca Tracey, I prefer even to Diptyque.

MapleMay11 · 16/10/2021 22:10

Another vote for St Eval

BitsAndBaubles · 16/10/2021 22:26

Lizzy1980 · 16/10/2021 22:30

I love Harpers Bizarre candles. They’re not very expensive but smell lovely. Let Sleeping Kittens Lie and Dirty Crow are particularly nice scents x

Positivelypatient · 16/10/2021 22:32

Another vote for St Eval, love their Orange & Cinnamon one.

MissyB1 · 16/10/2021 22:42

I've spent so much money on candles in the past, really with varying results (The White Company for example I found underwhelming, especially for the cost) but last year I bought the Spiced Orange from Wickhams Candles and it was beautiful. Really good scent throw. And they are very affordable.
They aren't as aesthetically pleasing as some, but they really smell wonderful.

shrugshrug · 17/10/2021 09:37

I gol found The White Company underwhelming- I so wanted to love them as I love that shop and its lifestyle vibe.

Brooke and Shoals candles have a great throw. The lovely scent can be smelt. So often the scent "gets lost" when a candle is lit as the throw is poor.
They do a Sandalwood one @Etherealhedgehog, it's mixed with something else though. If you get a chance to smell it you might like it.

Personally I hate "Christmas Scents".
Cinnamon , Clove, Fir tree scents - yuck

shrugshrug · 17/10/2021 09:38

I also found not I gol found. Hmm
Oh dear.

WaltzingBetty · 17/10/2021 12:39

Sand and fog
Found in TK max
Great scents and good quality

didireallysaythat · 17/10/2021 13:07

I've had some nice ones from here

valentte.com/

Can't comment how they compare to candles that cost £50+ as I can't justify that kind of money, but their boxes work out good value such that to can get 4 for 3

BeaLola · 17/10/2021 13:14

I like Jo Malone and Jo Loves, the White Comoany however I am loving my mini Neom portable diffuser and oil - have found it worth the outlay

SummerWhy · 17/10/2021 14:18

The Stoneglow gel candles are a thing of beauty! I have this orange & cinnamon one for Christmas and the ocean scent is lovely for summer. You used to be able to get refills for surprisingly little money but I can’t see them on the website anymore, sadly.

Another for St Eval. Inspiritus is my favourite.

Do M&S candles give off a good scent? I’m currently lusting after this ‘Retreat’ one: www.marksandspencer.com/retreat-botanical-pillar-led-candle/p/hbp60507802?color=NATURAL&prevPage=srp

This is my current fave. Home Bargains £2.99. must be a take on another brand. Lovely scent which subtly fills the room. Absolute bargain.

I'm gone right off Yankee- too scenty. Always keen to get sandalwood recommendations...
