Can anyone offer advice on gaming pc’s for a 14 year old? I’ve had one quote from a local independent but aren’t sure if this is a reasonable spec for £875:

Case: Kolink Citadel Mesh
Motherboard:
Processor: Intel i9 10900K 5.3GHz
RAM: 8GB DDR4 2666MHz
Graphics Card: Integrated graphics
SSD: 480GB
HDD: None
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro
Extras: None

Hoping to future proof and double up to use it for school work as well as gaming.

Any good for the price? Any thoughts on the light up gaming ones or is that a fad?

Grateful for any knowledge or information xx

It will cost more but if your thinking of gaming as I'n playing call of duty warzone, then I'm afraid you'll need e.g. Better graphics card, certainly more ram think 32gb and certainly a separate graphics card rather than an integrated one. Bigger hard drive if possible, think 1tb rather than gb ect that's the basics id first look to improve upon

Thank you I feared that would the case. Are there any brands/shops you’d recommend? Any thoughts on the light up ones?

Just researched and this is a good benchmark to start with

Here are the competitive specs to run at a high FPS for use with a high refresh monitor:

OS: Windows 10 64-bit latest update
CPU: Intel i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 1800X
RAM: 16GB RAM
HDD: 175GB HD space
Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 / RTX 2070 SUPER or Radeon RX Vega64 Graphics
DirectX: Requires DirectX 12 compatible system
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Sound Card: DirectX Compatible

The light up cases add extra spice so to speak, make sure it's got room to cool and has a few fans to keep it cool, as when the graphics card is running hot, so to speak you need it keeping cool

I would recommend a well known retailer or custom pc shop, it would be worth getting quote s for that type of spec I listed from a couple of pc shops if they are independent so to speak

Hawkins001 · 13/10/2021 20:24

That's the best information I have for the moment, the 175gb listed in the spec, is just for one game so you can see why a bigger hard drive is a must have

Thanks very much, I’ll get some more quotes, such a big purchase I don’t want to get it wrong. Thanks again x

We brought DS 13 a hp pavilion one, I saw it on very on offer so it cost £600... DS then sent me that one as an idea for Christmas. I double checked with my friend who is computer savvy and he said it was a good one. DS did a lot of research too. I paid less as had extra offer and money off...
