Presents for a vegan please

TrickyD · 07/10/2021 22:06

Our son’s partner is a vegan. I would welcome suggestions for presents.
No wool, no leather, no silk, no honey.
We usually give them a substantial joint present but individual things too. Recently a pure cotton scarf, thanks to a recommendation on here, vegan bath and shower stuff and last year those amazing boxes which grew quantities of mushrooms.
She is such a delight, she deserves something nice. Not much of a one for jewellery or makeup. Any ideas?

Selection of cheeses from Fauxmagerie. They are expensive and amazing (apparently). Total winner with my vegan friends!

Sn0tnose · 07/10/2021 22:46

Sanctuary stuff is largely vegan, as is Source.
Vegan Christmas by Gaz Oakley is a very good recipe book (the pictures look really appetising).
A glass Kilmer jar full of sweets? Candy Kittens are nice but quite expensive. Skittles, love hearts and Swizzlers are all vegan.
Immaculate Vegan is good for shoes.
Stella McCartney has a boutique at Bicester Village where you could pick up an accessory at a pretty good price.
Anything bamboo - can feel almost like cashmere if you can find a nice scarf or gloves, or soybean cashmere?
A watch? Votch watches are cruelty free.

Also, Brighton’s North Laines are full of shops selling various vegan accessories and they’re all on line if you google the laines.

Innocent sweets are really good.

AgnesV · 07/10/2021 22:51

This is great

www.thespicery.com/

They have lovely spice/ cookbook sets suitable for vegetarian/ vegan.

Anordinarymum · 07/10/2021 22:53

I saw ALDI do a vegan hamper in their newsletter. You can order it online. I did not see what was in it, but it might be worth a look

Niffler92 · 07/10/2021 22:59

VeganKind boxes are lovely

EssexLioness · 07/10/2021 23:03

Second La Fauxmangerie… they are absolutely incredible. We buy some every Christmas and they are a real festive highlight for us. Vegankind are nice for more snacky bits if that’s more his style.

Coronado2 · 07/10/2021 23:03

What kind of budget?

TrickyD · 07/10/2021 23:09

I am having trouble googling vegan items from the Laines, but Bamboo is a good idea. I was relectant to go for bath type stuff again but the Sanctuary vegan products do look attractive.
The Spicery would be too spicy for her; we always think it strange that a Brazilian does not like spicy food, but it could be just the job for DH.
Thanks to you all for the suggestions.

I'm vegan and unless you're buying food or clothes, most things are fine. I'd recommend choosing a present and then checking whether or not it's vegan, as it likely is. Lush is a safe bet though, I think 95% of products are vegan

TrickyD · 08/10/2021 10:42

I’d recommend choosing a present....
Yes rathernotshare. I only wish I could come up with something that is not bath/beauty related like Lush, or different from previous years.
But thank you.

I have less time than usual to assemble presents for DS, dear Vegan, and their DS, as they will take advantage of Brazil coming off the red list and go there for Christmas. We will see them at the start of December.

Ah apologies, I thought the emphasis was on finding something that was vegan, not just needing ideas full stop Grin what age is she?

TrickyD · 08/10/2021 11:26

She is 40. Sorry if my post wasn’t clear. I suppose it boils down to thinking of something nice, then checking it for Vegan suitability.

Have you thought about a lovely candle. I have a few vegan friends who I have gifted candles to and they have all been well received.

There are certain makes that are purely vegan friendly but other brands like Neom have a couple of candles in their range which are vegan.

ojojojoja · 08/10/2021 12:15

Booja Booja chocolates are avaialble from most supermarkets and are delish!

Thiscantreallybehappening · 08/10/2021 12:16

Hotel Chocolat do a good vegan selection including a vegan hamper.

I give a lot of vegan gifts from these guys - the vegan brownie mix is to die for.... Honestly, so good!

Thecurtainsofdestiny · 08/10/2021 13:43

Lounge wear from here?

RiaOverTheRainbow · 08/10/2021 13:59

Does she have any hobbies? Does she read? Craft? Or are there any subscriptions or 'experiences' she'd like?

EssexLioness · 08/10/2021 16:18

Booja booja chocolates are popular and readily available. However, they are a bit love-hate them IMO. We have received them a couple of times and though we both love most chocolate we found them completely inedible and disgusting. They are expensive to just get thrown in the bin, so I would be wary of buying them unless you know for sure she loves them.
Candles are a good idea but make sure they are vegan (no beeswax). All Yankee candles are vegan, as are several other brands. Many of the best gifts we receive though are personalised to our hobbies/ interests rather than being specifically vegan eg books, experiences. Some nice jewellery, maybe with a nature theme is a good idea too. You can get recycled silver too which would make it more ethical.Hairy Growler jewellery is lovely (genuine, despite the name 😆), and made from old coins, silver spoons etc

EssexLioness · 08/10/2021 16:19

Sorry just saw she doesn’t really do jewellery!

TrickyD · 08/10/2021 19:00

I was wondering about a foraging weekend. Her hobby, and DS's, is climbing. She seems OK for climbing books. They are coming here tomorrow for the weekend as it is DS's birthday. Maybe I will be able to elicit some clues either from her or DS then. Candle as a supplementary present might be useful. I will look at Harry Growler, sounds as if I might like it for me. Thanks again everyone.

EssexLioness, I have just looked at Harry Growler and the bangles are a distinct possibility. Not too 'jewellryish'.

I wouldn't focus so much " vegan " gift.
As rathernotshare says, most gifts are vegan anyway- books, jewellery, clothing, decor, art supplies. Don't focus on the vegan- just think about the gift- then check the vegan status.

wheresmyshoe · 08/10/2021 19:59

Pipbox vegan and cruelty free beauty advent calendar would be a wonderful treat.
