What are you doing New Years Eve?

I would really like to go out somewhere for a cheapy pub meal (cheap on New Years Eve? Hmmm) a few drinks and maybe a little dance.

With two kids, hubby and parents.

But I can't find anywhere!

Where is everyone else going?

We're going to the Panto, maybe something to eat afterwards if we can find somewhere that's not too busy. How old are your kids? Don't know of any pubs around here that would allow children in the evening (unless they had a separate dining room)

EmmaJW1976 · 07/12/2007 17:30

They are 8 and 3(4 on New Years day!)

I can't imagine that any pub will welcome children on NYE tbh. We are probably going to go and visit some friends in Brighton where we will have dinner and drinks at home.

SatsumaMoon · 07/12/2007 17:43

Personally I would say the children are too young too be in a pub in the evening, especially on NYE when there are likely to be lots of adults who may already be drunk - but in some places it may be more the norm to do this.... can you invite some friends around and have food, drinks and a little boogie at home?

CaptainUnderpants · 07/12/2007 17:58

probably a night in. Last year stayed over at friends house with kids ,had a great time but unfortunately took me about a week to get over it ! Not much sleep and too much to drink

wardrobemistressakasugarfree · 07/12/2007 18:00

At home,in bed, moaning about the blardy fireworks.
I hate NYE with a passion.

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 07/12/2007 18:02

On MN i expect!

orienteerer · 07/12/2007 18:04

At home as ever, always in bed well before midnight only to be woken by fireworks.

BroccoliSpears · 07/12/2007 18:05

House party at a friend's house. Baby asleep in travel cot upstairs (eventually). Am designated driver as I'm preggers. Looking forward to it.

Snaf · 07/12/2007 18:06

I very much hope that I will tucked up on the sofa in my pyjamas and dressing gown, doing bugger all but drinking wine and eating Bad Food and watching crap tv.

If pushed I may go to a friend's house, to sit on the sofa in my pyjamas and dressing gown, doing bugger all but drinking wine and eating Bad Food and watching crap tv.

I am hosting a grown ups Italian themed dinner party (downstairs)

DO NOT PONCE ME. I HAVE ALREADY PONCED MYSELF.

Upstairs there is going to be a two screened cinema party for the kids, in pyjamas. There will be Shrek 3 and Cinderella showing. There will be pop corn and other cinema things.

I am working on the idea that by the time the films have finished the grown ups will be pissed and beyond caring that their children are up and over excited at 9pm.

janeite · 07/12/2007 18:21

Slubbers that sounds lovely. I hate New Year's Eve and normally go to bed to avoid the blithering idiot that is Jools Holland (who dp insisits on watching) but something like that sounds worth staying awake for!

huffpuff · 07/12/2007 22:19

get kids to bed...............

chill out in pj's on sofa
wine
comfort food
watch the Review of the Year on TV

Just like every other night really but it seems like more of a treat on NYE!

auntilin · 07/12/2007 22:27

Probably babysit, as I did last yr, the money is good & lots to eat!

TinyTimLivesinVictorianSqualor · 07/12/2007 22:35

Hopefully watching Big Fat Quiz Of The Year, I assume it's on new years eve again.

TenLordsaLapin · 07/12/2007 22:37

Having a party. AGAIN. Not a full on dinner party like last year, a buffet-lets-all-get-drunk-and-dance-naked-in-the-garden party

Much the same as usual

TinyTimLivesinVictorianSqualor · 07/12/2007 22:39

It will be cold, make sure you don't forget the pasties.

ggirlsbells · 07/12/2007 22:39

getting pissed with friends as usual

don't know whose house yet though

hatwoman · 07/12/2007 22:41

bit like slubbers. except I might not make the kids wear pyjamas and, possibly more crucially, I have a suspicion that none of our friends want to come. miserable sods.

TenLordsaLapin · 07/12/2007 22:43

These or these?
