Juicer recommendations please?!!

I'd like to get my parents a juicer for Christmas but just don't know where to start. Can anyone please recommend one? I'm told that some extract better than others and some are much easier to clean than others but that's as far as I go!

Cheers!

HI there, how much do you want to spend?
Do you want a centrifugal one or a masticating one?
Is size going to be an issue?

I've got the big shiny silve Philips one (shamefully underused, was a lovely birthday pressie). It's really fast and efficient, probably no harder than any other to clean and no chopping necessary.

I have one like this but, it isn't the best, imo....

I also have a Easy Health Live Enzyme Masticating Juicer, which is pretty good, but not as good as more expensive versions of Masticating Juicers, iykwim.

My FIL got one of these and is pretty happy with it.
It is a bit bulkier then some other models but does look good!

When I was working I bought the Jack La Lanne juicer which has lasted us for ages and doesn't seem to have lost any of it's power over the years but it was about £100 at the time. We recently saw a lookalike JML brand one in Woolworths for £25.

Pixi, my Jack LaLenne just leaks really badly and if you do a lot of beetroot and carrot and other hard things, well...it sort of splutters and puffs and gives up half way through....(mine does anyway)

Centrifugal or masticating? Blimey, more difficult than I thought! Thanks for all your input. I think I'll have to do a bit more research but at least you've given a good start!

If it's for occasional juicing, then a centrifugal one will be probably be best.
They are faster, however a Juice extracted the centrifugal way will loose more of the vitamins, etc...as a slowly masticated Juice, iykwim

We have used Jack LaLenne regularly for year or so no prob love it even stood up to 2 carrier bags of apples for cider!!!

Elizabetth · 07/12/2007 18:30

I've got a Waring which is centrifugal and I've only used it once because it was so noisy. Was a bit disappointed.

makemineadouble...never had probs wiht apples in my Jack LaLenne...but carrots and beetroot are a mare....I suppose they are harder...it's not if I use small amounts of either...but if I do a lot...iykwim...

I have this one works well and easy to clean but I do find juicing quite expensive as we drink LOTS of juice

imaginewittynamehere · 07/12/2007 23:12

Depends how much you want to spend. I have this one which is brill but pricey - the rest of the site is great for juicer research if that is beyond your price range
