Ok, when i say princess, that is only because she is MY princess she isnt a girlie girl in any way at all.

She pretty much has all the major toys, my mum is quite indulgent and i am a charity shop feind. So, she has a cooker and all food etc, she has a wendy house, she has a fairy princess castle that she never plays with, she has books galore, jigsaws and craft stuff. She has train sets and cars, she is a big fan of thomas but i have a full train set with shed loads of trains that i got from the charity shop (bargain of the century).

I just dont want to be drawn into buying her stuff for the sake of it. I have seen a digital camera by fisher price but its £60, i have spoken to my mum and she wants to buy it so of course, that means i still have to find her something.

What will make my little girls eyes light up xmas morning? We dont have much of a budget this year, but we are not completely broke, but anyway, i really dont want to buy something extravagant as i feel that xmas forces us to do that.....sorry, that was longer than necessary.

girly duplo here

Hulababy · 03/12/2007 15:50

DD loved Happy Land - really got her imagiation going once she had a few pieces. Ended up with a whole village worth of buildings, people, vehicles and animals and she played with them for ages.

How about creative things - like lego, duplo or megablocks.

For a 2 yr old I don't think they need gender specific toys... She might be happy with some "boys toys" but reading what she has it seems she has most things I was thinking of! A ride on toy? Play set like stables or something? You say craft stuff - an easel?

lucyellensmum · 03/12/2007 15:59

we have duplo (lots of it) i have craft stuff (and easel) coming out of my ears.

A ride on toy? we are a bit tight on space, but might look into that. She has trikes, maybe something else. Isnt she a bit old for ride ons?

I was actually thinking of a garage set, you know the one with more than one level so the cars can zoom around the car park, oh and maybe some track that she can push cars around on and have it do look the loop etc (i had this and loved it). That is my number one thought i think.

Been thinking about a farm set, but they take up so much space - arrrgghhhhh That is my problem really, lack of storage for new toys.

I think i may have passed my aversion to dolls on to DD, she is totally uninterested and ive sort of tried to interest her, but maybe she can see the disgust in my eyes (ok, so i have issues with dolls lol).

TellusMater · 03/12/2007 16:01

A dressing up box. Scarves, hats, shoes, bags.

LadyOfWassail · 03/12/2007 16:01

Wow tellus, that's a great idea!

TellusMater · 03/12/2007 16:04

My dd's all time favourite. And pretty easy for a charity shop queen
