Right, now cod has started it. What should I DS give his Cubs leaders?

They are all male, there are 4 of them.

If wine, red or white?

If not wine, then what (don't really want to stretch to 4 bottles of scotch, altho' I suppose they deserve it).

I've got a bottle of bubbly for my DS's toddler group leader. If there were 4 of her, I'd go for wine. doesn't matter what colour if it's a decent-ish bottle in a nice little gift bag (ie. not Le Piat D'Or ) - it's still a nice present, and they can share with family and friends if they don't like wine.

southeastastra · 03/12/2007 18:36

'these people' why not?

when I say 'these people' I just mean the array of people who are not family or close friends.

So 'these people' would include:

  • teachers
  • brownie/guide/cub
  • youth club

That's all.

MaureenMLovesmincepies · 03/12/2007 18:42

How very toughful of you Pinetreedog. I will keep your thoughts about people like me in my mind, when I spend hours of my free time, planning meetings, days out and Christmas gifts for all my Rainbows. So nice to hear that at least 4 hours a week of my free time is given with the appreciation of people like you.

pinetreedog · 03/12/2007 18:43

crikey.

I appreciate their efforts very much and i tell them directly that I appreciate their efforts and I have helped out on occasion when needed. I encourage the kids to make a card.

I don;t buy them presents. That's all.

pinetreedog · 03/12/2007 18:44

I'm a bit tight but my sister's worse.

MaureenMLovesmincepies · 03/12/2007 18:58

What about one of those gadgets you can get from BHS in the mens Xmas section? Cub leaders like those sorts of things, something else to hang of their belts! They do things like pocket compasses or swiss army knife things, iykwim.

claricebeansmum · 03/12/2007 19:05

I give scout leaders and the such a box of Heroes of similiar. M&S are doing some 2 for 3 on nice tins of biscuits - it's a token of thanks.

PLUS nicely written Christmas card

MaureenMLovesmincepies · 03/12/2007 19:09

There's no need for huge gifts imo, just a small token of your appreciation to someone who offers their time FOR FREE, to basically childmind your children. I actually much prefer a homemade card and a nicely decorated homemade biscuit! It shows I'm thought of and not just an after though.

dalek · 03/12/2007 19:15

In our Brownies pack we have three older ladies (including the leader) and three young girls who all help every week Have bought the ladies hand treat toiletries in a nice bag from M & S and bought the youngr girls (15 upwards) a set of lip glosses - also from M&S MaureenM - is that the sort of thing you would appreciate? Didn't wantto do alcohol because of the younger girls but want to do something nice as everybody is so lovely to the girls at Brownies and my DD LOVES going.

MaureenMLovesmincepies · 03/12/2007 19:20

I do, really! I keep all the homemade cards in a folder and date them. Then when I'm feeling a bit unloved by a parent, I have a little look at them and remember that I do it for the kids, not me! (I do get a lot of wine as well, but that's maily because my parents know me far too well!)

DD made tree decorations for her Brownie leader a couple of years ago and I know she still puts it on her tree every year.

BadKitten · 03/12/2007 21:03

oh no!!! hadn't even thought about Brownie leader..... bother. We've been making little wheatbag hand warmers - teaching dd to use seqing machine so I guess we could make another pair of those.....

MaureenMLovesmincepies · 03/12/2007 23:17

Thats a lovely idea and I would certainly treasure that.

unknownrebelbang · 03/12/2007 23:19

Could do with some of them for on camp this weekend, lol.

MaureenMLovesmincepies · 03/12/2007 23:22

This weekend? Are you insane! You need the wine then.
