Playmobil or Schleich horse stables/riding centre

My DS 3 (will be 3 and 9 months at Christmas) is obsessed with horses. He's quite imaginative and into small-world play.

Was thinking of getting him a horse stables/riding centre playset for Christmas but torn between Playmobil and Schleich! We don't have any Schleich figures currently though him and DD5 have some Playmobil sets.

Pros/cons of both?

The Schleich are more realistic and will probably last longer before he outgrows them.

My DD was an avid collector of the schleich horses. They are very well made and keep their value (if you decide to sell at a later date) but they don't move unlike playmobile.

Schleich are fab. Both my 7yo & nearly 11yo want some of the horse club items for Xmas. I ordered some bits odd their website the other day & managed to get a 10% discount when I googled for codes. They do farm world which is good for smaller children. I find the pieces less fiddly than playmobil & we don’t seem to lose as many

Playmobil fan here. If they already have some, they can merge the sets.

Thanks all. I was originally thinking Schleich but then got swayed by the thinking of having a larger collection of Playmobil to mix and match.

But he is quite into the detail and realism of things (wants to know what particular horses are called etc, likes to watch videos of horses being born 😆) so am going back to Schleich...

Another big Schleich vote here. Played with them long after the Playmobil stuff had been passed on. Finally boxed up when DS went to secondary and moved out of the mid sleeper (entire riding school had been set up permanently underneath) but still in her room and still comes out occasionally.
Also if they’re really into it, it makes ideal birthday gifts from school friends who otherwise never know what to buy, as they can cost just £5 for a pony (and that’s a quick way to build their collection).
Bigger accessory kits like stables, horse riding school, jumps, farm, they all came from grandparents.
I doubt she’ll ever get rid of any of it and it’ll get passed on to her family.

Meant DD. However DS did have some animals and although he lost interest in them earlier than she did, he really enjoyed them when he was into them.

Schleich would be better for him. Sign up to the newsletter, they just had a discount on the horse stables. I’m hoping they do a 3 for 2 on animals before Christmas.

If you have other kids go playmobil for the mix and match value. (Our PM was one of the best buys....my son played knights, dragons, police etc....my daughter plays with every set we have.....zoo, Princess, fairy's, knights, dragons, police......)
