Have you booked your Panto? What is it and how much?

Just out of interest!

I have just booked our Panto for 28th December. It is Beauty and the Beast. For myself and my 2 DC it cost £66 for good seats in the front stalls.

Our local theatre has a very expensive panto - it would cost double that for same seats. The difference is it always has a celebrity starring in the show and expensive pyrotechnics.

So we go to a nearby 'lower income' town as my 2 couldn't care less about a celebrity and there are enough 'wow' moments in the show we go to to keep them happy! They have popular songs, great dance routines, the same jokes every year, beautiful costumes and some kind of exciting special effects! We love it!

Boxing Day - Robin Hood. Not sure on the price tbh coz my mum booked it for us all but prob about £25 per head.
We go somewhere every year either Christmas Eve/Boxing Day/New Years Eve.

Sounds good! Smile

I’ve managed to get front row seats on Christmas Eve for myself and two children to see sleeping beauty for just under £50!

UndertheCedartree · 02/09/2021 00:30

@SolitaryTree - wow - bargain! Bet it will be great!

I thought so too, am looking forward to it.
Hope you enjoy beauty and the beast!

Randomness12 · 02/09/2021 03:33

Yes. We’re going to see Jack and the Beanstalk at our local (town) theatre the weekend she breaks up from school. They usually have a celebrity playing the lead and good reviews but it’s our first time. Tickets for me, DH and DD5 (plus new baby in arms) for £75.

I’m fully prepared to spend the whole show outside with the baby but wanted something for my DD to look forward to after starting school and a new baby arriving within 2 months.

Poppins17 · 02/09/2021 06:01

That’s a great deal OP!

Our local Parish Council are showing Beauty and the Beast at their civic centre this year. Adult tickets are £8 and children £5.

They showed Robin Hood in 2019 which was a nice evening.

Just booked for my daughter and I to see Sleeping Beauty on 21st Dec for £85. It’s her first panto! We used vouchers as we unfortunately had 2 events at the theatre cancelled last year due to Covid.

Cluckycluck · 02/09/2021 07:12

I've booked Cinderella for £27.50 a ticket this year

CeeceeBloomingdale · 02/09/2021 07:50

I can't stand panto so we do a children's Christmas play every year instead on the Sunday before Christmas (£10 per adult, children go free so only £20 for the 4 of us). I've also booked to see Elf the Musical which was £52 for me and the two children. That's in November as it's a one week thing.

FlowerPower3110 · 02/09/2021 09:12

We're seeing Robin Hood on 28th December (£34 per adult, £30 per child).

SolitaryTree · 02/09/2021 09:19

@CeeceeBloomingdale elf the musical sounds absolutely fantastic! Just looked it up but unfortunately is no where near us.

SkankingMopoke · 02/09/2021 10:27

We are booked for Xmas eve, although our tickets have been transferred from last Xmas. I would have been booking them this week if we hadn't had to transfer though. It cost about £150 for 4 of us at the front of the circle, but we've tried other cheaper pantos and they haven't been anywhere near the same league. We don't care about celebs either (and our panto doesn't go in for big names), but do like the custard pie mayhem and a reasonable standard of songs, effects, scenery, and props. My husband hates pantos generally, but even he will willingly (although not enthusiastically!) sit through this one.

gogohm · 02/09/2021 11:12

We switched to a musical a few years back as none of us like pantos, just booked for everyone and it's over £400 Blush but that is 6 adults and 3 students plus a carer ticket (thankfully free)

CeeceeBloomingdale · 02/09/2021 13:16

I’m more excited than the kids!

UndertheCedartree · 02/09/2021 13:17

Wow - lots of bargains there! I'll probably switch to a play/musical at one point as my youngest gets older.

A couple of years ago we went to the Nutcracker live-streamed at the cinema - my youngest was 7.5 and asked when she could have her interval ice cream all the way through the first half and wasn't much better in the second half! We were also given tickets for Disney on Ice one Christmas and I was very underwhelmed so sticking with panto for now!

I’ve just booked for 28 Dec to see Beauty and the Beast. It’s just DD(6 almost 7) and I are going and it’s costing £44.00 for us both.

I’ve booked it to coincide with the football, DP and DS are going to try to get tickets to the match but aren’t holding out much hope, but at least they’ll be able to watch it at home in peace (if televised).

BakewellGin1 · 02/09/2021 22:21

28th November.... Robin Hood I think
Booked tickets for first week as these were discounted rate (increase for peak times)
Taking DS who is 2 so didn't want to spend a fortune... £9 per ticket Grin
Earlier then I would choose however it will start the festivities nicely

PaperDolphin · 03/09/2021 19:34

Sleeping Beauty. Paid over £80 (£86?) for 2 seats (1 adult, 1 child) near the front centre of stalls, so 2nd highest price band.

Silversun83 · 04/09/2021 14:46

Another one who can't stand panto Grin

So we're going to see the touring production of Stick Man - two adults and two DC, just under £50.

UndertheCedartree · 04/09/2021 15:42

@BakewellGin1 - yes, that will kick off things nicely.

@Silversun83 - I love Stickman!

Cinderella in Glasgow. £50 for me and one DC

MiaAnnabell3 · 04/09/2021 15:48

Cinderella! Front row on Christmas Eve for 4 of us was around £60/70 mark. I honestly cannot wait.

CallMeNutribullet · 04/09/2021 15:48

Sorry should have added that's about 3 rows from the front

FilthyforFirth · 04/09/2021 19:00

Beauty and the Beast, £90 for me, DH and DS4. Never been before (as a paying adult, I went as a child obviously!) so wasnt sure if it was expensive or not. Very, going by this thread! We are going mid December.
