Dd is 12 and has asked for (among many other things) an Oodie, not a cheap knock off but the real deal.
That's fine, but I don't know where to start- has anyone got one for there teen/tween, are they too big?
do they use it?
Is it worth the money?
Do they need washing alot?
Do they smell?

Thank you 😊

I got my 2 (21 and 18) Kuddly versions rather than the originals last Christmas as delivery for the real ones was after Christmas. Yes they use them (both at Uni and good for cold rooms). Wash really easily. Don't smell. Theirs were £ 40 each - probably worth the money. I bought myself a cheaper knock off but it was a lot thinner and I was given a Kuddly for Mother's Day which is much better.

I got cheap knock-offs for my DC last Christmas. Best present ever in terms of use! Can't comment on value - ones I got were around £25-£30 each, which I thought was plenty, and are decent quality, lined etc. Get adult size, not child/teen sized as these are too small - big is the whole point! They use them all the time, for lounging around, after a bath, as alternative to a dressing gown, even sleeping in them at times. No more difficult to wash than a throw or blanket, and quite quick to dry. I'd say go for it!

Dd2 has one (well, she has a Comfy - cheaper alternative from Amazon!).

It’s thick, and warm. I think I paid £35, and it is definitely worth that. She loves it, and lived in it right up until May or so, especially with lockdown school etc.

It washes fine, gets out through as often as general blankets etc that we use as throws.

Thank you. I shall start looking then and get one ordered to guarantee delivery before Xmas 😬.
I'm a hot body so even the thought of them makes me sweat. I can see dd living in one. 😂

I'm glad they seem to wash well too.

My almost 12 year old got an Oodie for Christmas last year. He loves it. It washes well. They are expensive compared to other brands but it's not like he will grow out of it.

I got my 14yo old one last Christmas when she was 13. She's worn it loads, it still looks brand new. I was sceptical as it's a lot of money but it's been worth it.

GinIronic · 01/09/2021 16:20

I've got two - they are all one size, pockets, really really warm, easy to wash - love them - worth every penny.

If you in any way care for the oceans. Avoid. Microplastic crap.

Had to smile at the ad under the first post.

They will smell if you use fabric softener on them, like all fleece does. And powder is less likely to leave a sticky and soon to be smelly coating on them, rather than using liquid detergent.

But I think the general principle is a big fleece tent with a neckhole, curled up on the sofa with at least one cat or dog attached to it at any given time. Maybe I should get one for DP...
