two weeks before? Week before? Need time to ice and decorate obviously. Also what are you doing for decoration? Last year I did tiny icing stars with silver balls on each point. dunno what to put on it this year

You're welcome.
Made mine yesterday, been sniffing it all day.
Not too bothered about decoration though, lots of marzipan and icing. I just like eating it.

I have been known to push it to two days apart, but ideally I think bout a week too

heaps of peaked icing, and roll some royal (or whatever) icing into balls and make snowmen? last two years the kids have had that ready coloured roll-out icing and made scarves and hats for the snowmen, robins, holly leaves and berries, all kinds of stuff. they love it, any age from around 2

Oh I thought you "marzipanned" and "iced" the same day. Is that wrong? So what do you do with it once it is with marzipan?

gigglewitchyouamerryxmas · 02/12/2007 22:33

think the marzipan needs to set a bit

actually i have no idea why - just one of those things granny brainwashed me to do

gigglewitchyouamerryxmas · 02/12/2007 22:34

BTW i think if you are using the bought, roll-out variety they are made to do without ceremony

i usually leave about a week between Marzipanning and icing - it gives time for the marzipan to dry out. I usually leave it overnight in the air after marzipanning, then putit in a tin for the rest of the week until I ice it. Hope this is helpful. I've been doing it for years and have never yet had a disaster......
