What to buy 5 year old DD?

My DD will be 5 come Christmas and I'm struggling with ideas for anything for her.
She has asked for a new play kitchen recently (hers is utterly trashed) but I'm unsure how much more use she will get out of one so I'm on the fence about that one.

Sylvanian house and family
My Generation Doll
Lego Disney
Playmobil
My Fairy Garden

Dd1 was 5 last Christmas and enjoyed Lego dots, Lego Friends set, Playmobil Pony farm bits ( which she got for her 5th birthday), stationery and books.
Ds1 is 7 just before Christmas and still plays with our Ikea toy kitchen most days, loves it after 6 years.

Bean bag
Yoto player
Fairy lights
Scooter
Crayola light up tracing pad thing
Craft items
Playmobil school
Our Generation
Vtech kidizoom print cam (prints photos on cheap print roll)
Leapfrog magic adventures globe
Enid Blyton far away tree books

Just a few ideas.

My kids played regularly with the play kitchen until age 9, age 7 & ongoing so I wouldn't count the kitchen out especially if you have younger children as the older ones will play along with them until much older.

We also have a wooden iron that gets a surprising amount of play (a few small pegs & a ribbon to use as washing line make for hours of fun)

Doll's house, LOL doll camper, poopsie unicorn, Lego friends set, Barbie dreamhouse, dressing up costumes, scooter/bike, Hatchimals set, kids digital camera

My dd will be 5 just before Christmas too and this year across both her birthday and Christmas she is getting a leapfrog reader and 10 books, baby Annabel princess and horse plus a couple of outfits, a vtech kiddizoom camera, crafty bits, a wooden bead bracelet making set, and then little bits like the crayola no-mess sets, a comic, funky pen and bubbles etc.

She will also get whatever she asks Santa for in her stocking but we do this much closer to the time. The baby Annabel is all she has actually asked for so far.

She is getting a sister just before her birthday so this year we are going low key and low noise!! 😂

We’ve also got one of the wonderbly books about a new sibling which are great, quite pricey but such good quality.

She already has a scooter and a bike and both are well played with and loved so they could be good ideas for you too. She also loves her sylvanian families and duplo.

Melissa and Doug’s ice cream stand
Polly Pocket
Playmobile
Craft stuff
Bath bomb making kit
Science experiment kit
Sticker books
Lego
Food gifts she isn’t normally allowed (here it’s marshmallow fluff Grin)

@Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons That's good to hear, maybe it is still and option then.We have no other children though and no intentions to have anymore so if she does get bored it's a waste.

Thanks for the suggestions! She has her in November too so trying to think of gifts for both.

Yoto player, baby annabel and science kits are fab, she'd love all of those.

Why don’t you get her her own proper baking set? My two at that age loved baking. Lakeland do a lovely kids range.

Parker231 · 28/08/2021 07:58

At that age DD liked her bike, Lego, garage, a loop car track (can’t remember it’s name), climbing frame, vet dress up outfit

I got rid of DS’ play kitchen when we moved as it was trashed but I regret it a bit as he asks for it. I was thinking of looking for a secondhand one so I’m less bothered about it not being played with?

Or I might get a camping kitchen toy so it’s smaller.

HungryHippo11 · 28/08/2021 22:06

My daughter has a yoto player and she absolutely loves it.

Playmobil is a big winner as well, they do quite a few kitchen or food sets which might be an alternative to a play kitchen. We have a pizzeria and a dolls house with a kitchen.

Alternatively you can get wooden play kitchens for not a lot of money- aldi usually do one for about £30.

My eldest DD will be 4 and a half come Christmas so similar age. Smile

Amongst other things she's getting a Frozen vanity table (it apparently plays music and lights - it's quite big so its her 'main' present), a Lego Friends set, a jewellery making set, a dolly dress-up sticker book, a few LOL Dolls and some Playmobil characters.
