Lovely Christmas Day Traditions

Hello all, looking for suggestions for making Xmas day really lovely and enjoyable. I’ve always found the day itself to be a bit of an anti climax once pressies are opened. What lovely activities/board games/ traditions do your family do that make the day lovely and avoid that lull? Also thinking ahead to when DC’s leave home - what family Xmas traditions will they want to come home and do or look back on fondly? I want to create a really lovely Xmas experience for my DC’s etc as my own weren’t that great.

It started after losing my first child close to Xmas. I was given a beautiful ornament to commemorate the loss. I buy one for my first baby each year too so will always have some special ones when all the children have grown. I have also suggested that baubles are welcome Xmas gifts to me if they run out of ideas too, so my tree will continue to fill up over time. Imagine grandchildren feet print baubles and wonky clay ornaments, I can't wait.

@GoldenBlue - I do that too. I put the decoration in my DCs' Christmas Eve boxes.

Children in our family always write letters to Santa to tell him about how their year was and make their wishes about the gifts. We never tell them what to write but they would always write something about adults, too, and ask for presents for us as well which is funny and heartwarming to read. The older children do not believe it by now but they don't ruin it for the younger ones, either, so I think we will be doing it this year, too.
As for me personally, I like doing Smartshow 3d Christmas videos and send them around (mostly to relatives who don't attend family gatherings). I just feel like you still have to ackowledge the celebration for someone even if you don't get to see them.
