How cheaply could you get away for Christmas (UK)

Anywhere but my own house or family?

A little cottage somewhere sounds £££ although ideal. Could anyone suggest anything remotely nice that would be fairly cheap to do?

For Christmas Eve to about Boxing Day?

We are expecting some awful news in a few weeks and it'll be another major loss to this family. I cannot stand to put on a happy face for in laws or my own parents and siblings.

I don't want to be at home. Too sad.

It's me, DH and a will be 4 year old DS with autism that's quite severe. He doesn't understand Santa at all so I'm not guilty about the present issue Sad not by much anyway, even though I do feel sad

@123rd Thank you - What if I extended it to say 5 days? Would that make it easier to find somewhere maybe?

Quite the opposite, but the prices can be astronomical. I hope you find the break away you need OP Flowers

There are a few things on Vrbo, which we use a lot (mainly for abroad) and I'd imagine a lot of Airbnb! I don't think you'd struggle to find something for 3 days if you look to book now.
Without knowing your requirements or budget it's hard to suggest something, but something like this:

Depends what you want to be near really!

Are you meaning abroad or in the UK? Which part of the UK? I wouldn't want to be travelling too far at that time of the year. Not only traffic but the weather could be bad. Would you be driving, train or other?

I found a few nice places on air b&b for 2 nights in Northumberland for less than £200!

www.farmstay.co.uk could be a good site to look at - you might be able to stay on a farm with livestock or at least tractors? Would your dc enjoy that? I'd choose a less popular area like Herefordshire or Northumberland well away from holiday areas, avoid hot tubs etc and I'm sure you could find somewhere for 300 or so?

Centre parcs is £1499 for the dates 23rd-27th in a two bedroom lodge

I think most places will be booked up by now.

I’m sorry you feel you need to get away.

We have booked a holiday home in Yorkshire for 6 adults and 2 dogs. From Christmas Eve to 28th December it’s cost £2200 for us all. It’s a nice place with all en suite bedrooms, real fire etc… we booked it back in May, so not too long ago.

Hope you can find something suitable.

Look on Airbnb, lots under £500.
