After last year when 21 year old dd was delighted with her stocking and said she thought she'd wouldn't get one as she was grown up, I've vowed to do them forever if need be.

I have dds but all input welcome!

Small bottle alcohol for the over 18s
Costa card
Jewellery but that gets expensive when 3 x teens
Dd15 rides so a grooming brush
A book - usually something funny like Milk & Vine (massive hit last year)

Beauty stuff - small sizes of posh shampoo
Cleansers etc
Nail varnish
Small candle
Body shop small sizes if they still do them are great for stockings

Ok

This is my list from last year, granted I only have one and he is male, but it might spark something.

Shaving oil
Razor blades
Shaving foam
Terrys Orange
Couple of scratch cards
Calvin Kleins or similar
Starbucks voucher
Chocolate coins
Miniature gin
Miniature rum
I owe you and haircut
Ferrero Rocher
Beef Jerky
Nail kit
Unusual imported soft drinks, there is a small convenience shop about ten miles from here that do great ones, equally JS in their world aisle do ginger beer, Ting, ( I have no idea, but he was very impressed) Grin

I do:
Treat bubble bath or shower gel (Occitane/Neal's Yard/Molton Brown)
Fancy food treats eg Fresh coffee from Algerian Store in Soho or chinese tea flowers that open up in the glass
Good quality/rare spices or mixes to make student cooking more interesting
Tea/coffee paraphernalia like milk frothers, mini cafetieres, nice mugs - all pretty reasonable on Amazon
A tee shirt from Uniqlo
Nice underwear and socks
A book
Room scenter sticks/candles/drawer sachets
Lipsalve
Facemasks - clay or charcoal or moisture depending on skin type
Scent samples of really fancy perfumes - can't afford the £200 bottle but can afford the £7 sample!)
Cosy winter stuff like fluffy socks or slippers, gloves etc.

I don't do a stocking for mine but I'm looking for inspiration.

Mine have a Dec 1st Bag so the underwear, robes, pyjamas (winter not Christmas) socks go in that .
I got her a Sock advent calendar last year
DD has a Beauty Advent Calendar that I make up for her , so all the skincare , shampoo, make-up , lipbalm , hand+foot masks in that .
I try to keep it under £5 /day . Some 3for 2 , some travel kits I split up .

They do have gorgeous tapestry stockings with lights Xmas Grin that I put their presents in , their presents tend to be tiny and £ now .

(The bags , advent wrapping and stockings are re-used)

DS likes money so a gift wallet with cash or a "We've transfered £X to your account"
Things for his guitar ( he was 21 last year so got a 21st/Christmas combined Fender stratocaster , amp and various bits )

Lindt chocolate teddy bears or reindeer

Extra long charger cables

Mine wouldn't use Costa or Starbucks gift cards , I think they use ApplePay for that

No candles , the female cat likes DD room and she'd knock it over

Jewellry would go in her main presents

Alcohol miniature as a table gift

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/08/2021 10:18

Couple of other things

Hair turban/wrap ( I got some bamboo ones , much better than microfibre)
Cloth cleansers - got from M&S , Pestle&Morter
Primark do the silicone face cleanser brushes that DD likes
Aldi are a good source of skincare too

I used to do stockings when they were little , mainly to occupy them at 4am when they woke up .
We used to put them both in DS room so they woke up together , trying to be really quiet but we could hear the rustling and whispering.
We put a pre-lit tree on a timer in the hall that came on after Father Christmas had visited .

Their traditions just evolved when they got older .

I'd be leaving my DC a piece of coal if they said they were too old for all my Christmas efforts Xmas Grin

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 22/08/2021 11:20

My dds both love bath and bodyworks
So I tend to do an order with them and get them a few bits and pieces.

Chocolates

Fancy conditioner/shampoo

Slipper socks

Hair accessories

Passport covers (last year) so will get matching luggage labels this year.

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 22/08/2021 11:21

Oh and always a Starbucks gift card

Gatehouse77 · 22/08/2021 16:18

Face wipes
Toothbrush/head
Novelty key ring
Shot glasses
Cocktail umbrellas
Tube of chocolate
Net of chocolates
Christmas themed sweets

didireallysaythat · 22/08/2021 17:11

This year I think I'm going to put £20 on an envelope. I don't think I will come up wit anything DS wants - we haven't come up with a present for his birthday yet and that was in June. We're not really into things

Halliabaloo · 22/08/2021 19:27

Mine are students so a nice shower gel, new toothbrush and Colgate that they wouldn’t buy themselves go down well. Funky coloured laces for their DMs, posh, flavoured cooking oil, USB drive, do they need any small kitchen tools?
