Family member who is teetotal
Very wealthy so has everything he needs
Minimalist house
Sweet tooth but diets so not keen on boxes of chocolates
Enjoys the gym
Likes watching football but a niche team (3rd division)

In the past I have given a foodie hamper, posh leather glasses case, high end toiletries, book on travel, posh paperweight for the study, designer socks in a box. So small luxury presents. I'm stumped this year! Budget £50.

A jumper?
Cashmere scarf?
A book?
Cashmere socks?
A hat?
A plant for the garden?

Ricekrispie22 · 21/08/2021 07:55

If he likes travel, then perhaps a scratch map and a passport cover.

Edmontine · 21/08/2021 08:13

This is what books are for.

Get him ‘The Right to Sex’ by Amia Srinivasan. It was published this week. RRP £20 though obvs much less on Amazon. You don’t have to spend all your budget, especially as there’s nothing he needs, but you could always add ‘Invisible Women’ by Caroline Criado Perez - if he hasn’t read it.

CarolinaWeeper · 21/08/2021 22:31

Sounds like someone I know and I usually do a hamper which has things like posh salt, really good quality balsamic vinegar, a nice bag of coffee, a candle etc. I figure if I'm unsure I'll go for consumable items so they'll hopefully get used at least or are easily passed on.

Twilightstarbright · 22/08/2021 08:41

Hamper from a luxury food retailer.

DH is like this but always likes a nice coffee so would love a little hamper with coffee in it.

Houseofvelour · 22/08/2021 08:48

My cousin goes to the gym a lot so I got him a hamper of workout foods.
It was protein bar versions of chocolate and he really liked it.
I think it was from Etsy

billysboy · 22/08/2021 09:05

As a fella who I am often told I am "hard to know what to get for you " the best gifts I have had have always been the ones with a bit of thought

some of my faves

really nice quality socks ( maybe in his teams colours ? there are loads of bespoke sock makers about on google )

a woolly hat from Barbour that I use daily in the winter

A honey subscription from Hive and Keeper , I am a fan of cheese and honey sandwiches , they send two different types of honey by post every month

Always read any books that I am given although you may need to know his area of interest , not sure of his age . I have received recipe books as well as fiction or non fiction

always love a personalised mug as well

Dont forget to send a card which is probably the most important thing

Just my two penneth , all of the gadget type things end up in the bin

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 22/08/2021 09:24

Does he actually want anything?

TBH I’d be inclined to do a food shop just for the food bank, give him the receipt and tell him you’ve donated this on his behalf. Maybe with just a token pair of nice socks for the say-so.

mam0918 · 22/08/2021 09:27

You said minamilist so I would think tickets to something or an experiance or a membership.

DismantledKing · 22/08/2021 09:30

Even a 3rd division club will have an online shop.
Cashmere scarf or hat in his club’s colours:

Rainbowqueeen · 22/08/2021 09:30

Posh tea, coffee, hot chocolate or cordial.

Does he like to cook? If so, recipe book.

Gym socks, good quality ones can be expensive. Session with a personal trainer.

Theatre or movie tickets.
Not in the Uk but where I live there is a Mens health magazine. Similar magazine you could get a subscription to??

Done kind of tech item eg speakers.

These are exceptionally bizarre and niche books that dont seem to link to anything the OP said about the man - in fact she didnt even say he reads.

'The right to sex - a book essential lessons on mysogyny and consent' seem massively passive agressive and like an attack for no reason. It would appear you are saying his a creepy sex pest that doesnt already know about things like consent.

foreverandalways · 22/08/2021 09:36

An experience such as a hot balloon ride or sky diving etc etc

Accidentgirlfriend · 22/08/2021 09:40

A designer wallet
A gift card for a meal somewhere like Miller and Carter ( Tesco etc do gift cards that you can spend in a few food places)
A silk tie
A cheese board with some nice cheese

user1493494961 · 22/08/2021 09:42

An Oxfam goat.

FoolShapeHeart · 22/08/2021 09:49

One of our local homeless charities run a Christmas dinner for anyone who needs it - I'd probably get a small luxurious item of food that you know he eats & a donation to the charity for someone else to eat too.

Edmontine · 22/08/2021 09:53

Don’t be daft! They’re both high profile new or recent books widely available and much discussed. Given that Amia Srinivasan is a Professor of Philosophy at Oxford I would think any recipient of her book would be flattered that the giver considers them intelligent enough to appreciate it. And both books would provide plenty of material for conversation. Of course the OP might choose other books or ignore my suggestion altogether.

To be frank I find your comments incredibly bizarre ...

I think that you’re the bizarre one. The problem other poster was right, they’re very niche and the OP gave no indication that the recipient would want these or even be slightly interested in them.

DH is like this but always likes a nice coffee so would love a little hamper with coffee in it.

I recently learned that warm milk poured I to a small cafetière and then pumped up and down for 30 secs or so is as good as any milk frothier and cheaper - they are about £5 in supermarkets. Would be a good addition to a coffee hamper along with instructions.

How is a card more important than a gift? I’m not being sarky, but I’m from a different culture and genuinely don’t understand.
BatshitCrazyWoman · 22/08/2021 12:58

Does anyone have any links to websites that sell really nice socks?

I feel your pain, OP
