Tell me about your stockings

ie the ones your children hang up for Father Christmas, not the ones you wear with suspenders, obviously.

We always used my dad's old woolly hiking socks so now we are doing the same with dh's.
Am I behind the times? Are you meant to have specially-made king-size red ones trimmed with tinsel that play 'Jingle Bells' when you poke them?

My mum made dd's (and my neice and nephew) the same as mine and my brothers' - quite large and with name embroidered on it. DD's in actually made out of the material which my Mum made my bridesmaid's dress out of which is quite nice.

TMMJ...i am okay sewing, but nearest i got to handmade stockings was customizing the identical ones the twins had. They got a differently coloured ribbon and button on each, and their initials (very badly) embroidered on...well, they adored them [proud mummy emoticon].
