Following on from me posting on the other furreal thread i feel the need to rant once more, and much more publicly!

That STUPID pony that costs £300 has sent my dd into oblivion of really really wanting this so so desperately, and at 3 yrs old she just doesn't get that something is far too much money, i even looked on Ebay (even though we are completely skint this year) and they are selling for almost full price on there 2nd hand.

Feel pretty bad though, she doesn't know how much it costs and her face lights up everytime the advert comes on....she calls the damn thing scotterscotch.

DAMN hasbro to hell!!!!

true pucca - my daughter's shetland cost £200!

VictorianSqualor · 30/11/2007 12:40

Can't you tell her those horses are rubbish and take her mind off it by taking her either riding, or to somewhere she can see horses??

pucca · 30/11/2007 12:40

Thanks everybody for getting what i am talking about and listening (well reading) while i have a good old moan.

Evenhope...I am not even going to rise to you.

I have seen the ad. Thank God dd is 7 and is either too old for it or old enough to know she would never get it! I wouldn't buy it for £100 tbh. What does it do apart from move its head a bit? Someone explain what your dd is going to be doing with this toy (that costs as much as I will be spending on all 4 of my children altogether) a week after Christmas.

pucca · 30/11/2007 12:42

TBH she will accept with joy anything she gets on Christmas day, she is a love, will have a look around see if i can get a cheap alternative (like a hobby horse).

ProjectTartanArmyIcarus · 30/11/2007 12:42

ummmm iwould think no is better than a hobby horse. My parents were always doing substitutes and I would have rather had nothing tbh.

DumbledoresGirl · 30/11/2007 12:43

My dd was given my old hobby horse not so long ago. It comes out from time to time and the joy of it is that when she is not playing with it, it stands in a corner of her wardrobe and no-one can see it!

pucca · 30/11/2007 12:44

Exactly DG, it does nothing really, and is just a fad!but i would have been in love with this myself when i was a child, its just one of those things that are pretty crap but a kid loves!

DumbledoresGirl · 30/11/2007 12:45

Pucca, how about one of those little dogs or cats that yap and walk about? I have got my dd one. It is going to sit at the top of her stocking and be the first thing she sees in the morning. It is still a ludricrous £15 but more affordable than a life size pony.

pucca · 30/11/2007 12:47

DG...Yes good idea, she likes stuff like that, £15 is a pretty good price too, where from?

Katz · 30/11/2007 12:49

dd2 really wants one of these but we have managed to talk her round to a rokcing horse instead. having seen it in real life i expected it to walk but it doesn't it just moves it head,

DumbledoresGirl · 30/11/2007 12:55

I got mine from a shop called 4Front. Don't know if it is well known. It just suddenly opened in a vacant shop in our mall.

goingfor3christmaspuddings · 30/11/2007 16:40

I've just seen this, much cheaper but doesn't shake it's head!

LIZS · 30/11/2007 16:43

I go for that one too goingfor3. I seriously doubt she would appreciate the extra £££ for the features. She's 3, she'll get over it !

wheresthehamster · 30/11/2007 16:55

Under pressure, Santa got the Butterscotch pony last year for dd2 and dd3. It was great fun for a while but really they are too old for it and it just stands there, all forlorn, in the playroom.

I have just asked if they would mind if I got rid of it. Crikey, they have gone berserk! As if I could think of such a thing! And they are now in there hugging and kissing it and telling it how horrible I am

ProjectTartanArmyIcarus · 30/11/2007 18:42

Not dissing hobby horses btw the dds have one.

But it is a horse of another colour from the butterscotch possed thingy.

kerryk · 30/11/2007 18:58

WE GOT OURS FROM COSTCO AND IT CAME TO AROUND £220 INC VAT.

A FRIEND BOUGHT HERS FROM THE LITTLE WOODS BOOK AS SHE HAD A COUPLE OF PROMOTION CODES, SHE GOT IT FOR £305 (I THINK) AND SHE DOES NOT HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING TILL NEXT SEPTEMBER.

I WOULD NOT HAVE DONE WHAT SHE HAS, OURS ARE ONLY GETTING IT BECAUSE WE HAD A BIT OF EXTRA MONEY THAT WE WERE NOT EXPECTING BUT I SUPPOSE IT DEPENDS HOW DESPETRATE YOU ARE TO BUY IT.

sorry for caps

I just googled to find what the darned thing was - some of you might like to know its currently 225 pounds from amazon (and free delivery, I should think so!).

Very cute but .... hobby horses can be ridden all round the house and garden (even by mum) and some make noises. And you can get rocking horses cheaper which will probably last longer and be more fun. Tonight DD (now 8) was playing circuses and was standing swaying atop her rocking horse (150 from ToysRUs 4 years ago.) I don't think sweet little butterscotch would stand up to that treatment.

Toys really don't have to be all-singing-all-dancing.... thats what imaginations are for. I was a horse mad small child who made a hobby horse out of a sock and a stick, and another 'horse' out of a chair, a cushion and a cardboard head.

iheartdusty · 30/11/2007 20:41

following on from some previous messages ...maybe it really is worth switching TV channels until after Christmas to avoid the ads?
my DCs watch a lot of telly, but they watch Cbeebies so they are barely aware of lots of the toys that are all the rage. It's free (with a set-top box) and has No Ads.

I think the rocking horse idea is a great idea, have your DDs got a really big rocking horse that goes up to age 8? There are plenty around, also on ebay, and they are adored by all.

IsawBUMPERkissingsantaclaus · 02/12/2007 14:11

damn thing freaks me out

mummydoc · 02/12/2007 14:47

on the issues of freaky toys my 2 dds want the new baby annabel doll that turns it head towards you when you talk ....ahhhh....i said no ont he grounds it is too spooky to come into our house ( never mind we have 3 baby annabels already)
