What do they do exactly?

What age are they aimed at/suitable for?

Any special offers on them anywhere?

Thanks

Much to my dismay, dd loves these and she is 8.They don't really do anything and I find them quite ugly .
She has a collection of them including a few of the little house/kennel type things that go with them. I suppose the collection thing is OK as the single pets are affordable for a child to use pocket money on but the bigger things are rubbish for the price. How ever, she adores them and sets up her little pet world and plays happily for ages even with friends when they come over, they sit at the table in her room and set it all up.

My DDs cat and pup are a 3-4 years old now (first aquired when she was 4/5) so maybe the technology and feel are better now... they move and make some noises when stroked. The cat looks quite realistic but the movement is accompanied by the sound of motors whirring and they are rather hard under the fur so not nice to cuddle. DD sort of likes having them (the cat was bought because she'd said she wanted a cat that moved and growled!) but she really hasn't ever played with them much. Whereas her huge pack of conventional toy dogs (ToysRUs 5 quid jobs mostly) are taken to bed, and played with endlessly in pretend games ('dog school'). These all have names and some are really loved.

Just ignore my post, I was talking about some other thing altogether(littlest pet shop) so I'm not quite with it this morning!

But, dd also has fur real pets and they are very cute but after a while a bit boring as they don't do that much. She has the labrador puppy, a leapard cub and the big white teddy and the arms move as if to be picked up. Most of her friends, when they visit go straight for that one and love it but they only play with it for a few minute sthen it gets switched off. Agree about the whirring noise and the lack of cuddlyness!

Oh god i curse furreal pets, dd has seen the advert for the goddamn pony, which is a bargain at £300!! (NOT)

She keeps going on and on and on about it, and how do you explain to a 3 yr old that something is too much money besides which we are pretty skint this year to begin with.

BettySpaghetti · 30/11/2007 11:37

I can assure you theres no way I'd consider the pony -I did see it and thought .

I know DDs friend has one and I've got a feeling that she'll come home from friends house today wanting one for Christmas.

As it is I have no idea what to get for her anyway as shes just had a birthday and doesn't actually know what she wants so it could be a contender if they're any good. Shes 8 BTW.
