Sugar free Christmas suggestions

Help oh wise mumsnetters

March this year I quit sugar and ready meals.

Christmas has always been about the food, I still have a Heston chocolate orange Christmas pud in the cupboard from last year which didn’t happen due to covid.

So please can I have some lovely suggestions of things I can prepare and enjoy over the period.

Do you eat any sugar at all? I've been on the keto diet the last two christmases and treated myself to some dark chocolate from hotel chocolate.

I also made myself a sugar free trifle with layers of sugar free jelly and whipped cream.

I don't eat sugar either, or sweeteners - haven't for years!

Christmas is the only time I miss it - warm mince pies with clotted Bailey's cream 😛

Pears poached in red wine and cinnamon, with clotted cream is quite nice

@Billybagpuss check out the low carb topic on here - in the bootcamp section there are several recipe threads for meat, fish, vegetarian and puddings. Lots of really delicious recipes.

Thank you all

@lunar1 the only digression I have from no sugar at all is wine, I only drink water, tea and at weekends wine.

@Summer20twentyone I like the idea of poached pears that would make a nice Christmas Day pud and mince pies is probably what I will miss the most

Thank you @Ninkanink I will.

Great idea for a thread. I was nearly completely sugar free (and feeling great) but fell off the wagon at Christmas.

It’s the social side of things, rather than the recipes that I find hardest. There’s such an emphasis on sharing food and hospitality and it feels rude to keep refusing.
