we are going a week on sunday, i am struggling to work out what to pack, the cmpany provide thermal suits/boots/socks and gloves but reccommend extra gloves - no problem have ski gloves for us all, but after thermals, base layers and fleece should we then be wearing our own ski wear jakets and salopettes under the thermal snow suits provided ? this sounds a very daft question but please someone who has been tell me ....ps the temperature is due to be around -16 thanks

We went to Finland for a week 2 years ago. Went ski-ing and saw santa, the coldest day we had was -23.
Thermals, base layer and your own ski suits should be enough,

Make sure you have a good moisteriser though (oil based) for your face as it is very drying in the cold.
Have a great time.

Who are you going with? We went on the day trip 4 years ago with Transun, it was awful! a complete waste of money.

I hope tou have a much better trip.

thanks , have sorted out all the base layers and ski gloves and hats x about a trillion per child, have balaclava hats for the girls , so feeling more organised now, we never need all the thermals and things when we ski, dd1 skied in her base layers only last year and left her jacket half way up a mountain ( luckily dh retireved it) we are going with esprit ....i know they get a lot of flack on the ski threads and personnally wouldn't go skiing with them, but hey they offered 1 child free and 1 child 1/2 price and we were limited by dates so we thought we would giv eit a try, i think transun no longer operate ? why was your trip awful?

We went 2 yrs ago it was great fun and all of us enjoyed it.Dont worry about clothes! [I mean just dress nice & cosy/sensible,not loads of layers needed.]If you are going for the day trip u would have to carry everything with u all day. They provide it all.I got some fantastic photographs & did a lovely booklet for my daughter to show her school friends. If u need more info let me know .Have fun !!

We went a few years ago - but it was Feb so colder - reached minus 40 at one point! Was out best holiday ever.

I recommend your own wool gloves (not ski gloves) to go under the ones they provide - this extra layer really helps. Same with socks - take your absolute best socks. Thermal underwear. Plus layers layers layers. But they really do provide everything you need clothes wise though.

Also our camera didn't take too kindly to the cold at times - the battery ran out very frequently. So don't forget the charger and spares. Our camera has never been the same since, although it did actually get dropped in the snow at one point!

Lipbalm. Sunglasses - a must.

Swim stuff for the saunas although they expect you to go in the buff!
