I blame myself for having introduced the notion of the cats buying christmas presents years ago.

Anyhoo (probably should issue a boak alert here AND a PFB alert) DD has to find at least one christmas present for her daddy. I would like to find something sentimental-ish and/or funny and spend up to about £30. Though as I'm totally without ideas as the moment I'd probably spend more just to get something.

Surely one of you has been in a similair situation and has a suggestion worthy of Santa himself??

Have you got one of those china places near you where you decorate your own cups /plates etc? We have "Ceramic Experience" near us, and they will put your baby's hand and footprints on various items and then fire them. A group of us did this for Father's Day as a surprise for the Dads, and it makes a lovely momento as well as a gift.

meemar · 28/11/2007 19:47

Is it important that you spend a lot? If not I'd get some kind of photo gift. Mug, calender, diary etc with a gorgeous photo of DD on it.

He'll love it

mintydixcharrington · 28/11/2007 19:48

go and have a browse on photobox.com and get something made with a pic of her on it

SweetSnowflake · 28/11/2007 19:50

get him a mouse mat/mug kinda thing for work with your LO pic on

talktothebees · 28/11/2007 20:03

I thought the photo thing was too sentimental but maybe not. Though he hasn't used the frame I got him to put on his desk at work.

I also thought about that book Raising Daughters but was worried that would look like I thought he was a crap dad!!

ds gave his daddy a canvas painting last Christmas. Cost only a few quid for canvas and finger paints from ELC. I just dollopeed paint on and let him smear it around. It has some lovely baby hand prints on it. Very personal and dh loved it.

talktothebees · 28/11/2007 20:27

janitor I LOVE it. He's getting one.

sbue - brilliant. We'll be doing that.

The sports suggestions are fab except he already has football and rugby season tickets and appears to have an invisible jamming device which keeps our tv permanently on Sky Sports

flowerybeanbag - anyone who has asked what DD wants this year has been told 'wine for mummy'

Bree somewhere between Liverpool and Manchester. Why? Are you coming round to slap some sense into me?

I'm filing that one for next year. Get DD to break something so she can replace it as Christmas present. It's simple and perfect.

Do you think DP is worrying this much about my present from DD?

OP posts:
flowerybeanbag · 28/11/2007 20:41

rofl at 'wine for mummy'

I'm not sure DH is even worrying on a 'bubble bath and chocs' level at the moment. Need to start hinting.

deaconblue · 29/11/2007 13:01

I primed a good friend to offer to take dh shopping for my present last year. He came up with a beautiful book of photos of mums and children which he'd personalised with pictures of me and ds. Glad you like hte canvas idea, I was v.v.pleased with myself when I thought of it. We are making a book all about ds and his best friend Daddy this year, complete with gungy painting, glitter and photos.

CindersNeedsHelp · 29/11/2007 15:09

I have made footprint / handprint craft like this angel. Sentimental but nice and cheap and you then can go with the sporty stuff too!

If anyone is interested I brought a job lot of those plastic soft-backed pocket-sized photo books Janitor suggested and I printed out the front pages on my printer to make ?Boasting Books? for all the family, including grandparents. I have a few left over, if anyone is interested.

Triggles · 29/11/2007 20:30

Last year, when DS was 5 mos, he (with mummy's help of course) gave DH a photo frame that said "Daddy & Me", and in it I put a photo of DS and DH together that I picked out from some recent pics we had taken. DH loved it.
