What dose she like?

Zombiemama · 31/07/2021 22:25

At the minute she's into everything which doesn't help ideas wise. She loves Barbies but the house is coming down with bits

A new bike? A scooter? Fitbit? A musical instrument? My dd was 7 last October and she got a bike for Christmas, she like lol too. Roller skates are a big hit with her too.

Snuzzle · 01/08/2021 06:29

DD turned 7 in May and her best presents were a new bike and a ukulele.
She loves Lego friends and craft kits so will get her them for Christmas and is desperate for heelys or roller skates. She’s asking Santa for a Nintendo switch as her main present.

LeonoraFlorence · 01/08/2021 08:40

Ukelele sounds fab! One of my DDs would love that.

A science kit
A flower pressing kit
A magazine of some sort
New camera
A new board game
A new book
A new set of curtains etc
Art and craft supplies
A musical instrument

We got our DD a hover board for her 7th birthday, it was a big purchase but we justified it given lockdown and lack of days out etc..

The only thing our dd wants is a HP invisibility cloak, apparently she wants to hide from us and lie on her bed watching YouTube videos where we can’t see her and for us to just leave her alone 😂 She also wants make up.

Things we’ve got her and looking at getting her are a zamfam nighty, it’s actually marketed as a dress but im using it as a nighty, poppits, Christmas cushions, nice underwear sets, she’s got a nice HP quill writing set & she’ll get a new outfit. She was eyeing up some DMs so that’s a possibility. I’m looking at getting her a cardboard cut out of Hermione Granger or signed framed picture, she also loves Star Wars so possibly a Princess Leia one too. Im also considering a nice necklace with her name engraved on it. Toys wise we’ve got them coming out of our ears as we have 3 girls, they have absolutely everything so unless she turns round and decides she wants something specific I don’t think we will get any, maybe an LOL to add to the collection and I will probably get her some of the Top Model stuff as she likes the fashion designing.

Roller skates
So bomb bath bomb kit
Slime surprise kits ie poopsie sets
Rainbowcorn stuff
Friendship bracelet making set or dreamcatcher making kit
An animagic toy
Squishies
Those sets of mini food that you add slimey ingredients to were a big hit for my DD and pals. ( last bought for my DD in Tesco)
Furry diary and pen set
Top Trumps card games

These are great ideas thank you. A switch has been mentioned in passing but I'm not sure if it's something she will take much interest in to justify the cost. @snuzzle are you going for the switch itself or the lite version.

Heeleys would definitely be a hit here and it probably is time for a bike upgrade to the next size

My first thought was rollerblades which I see another poster has also recommended

Are you looking for a main gift or lots of smaller gifts

7 seems a good age for crafty bits, pretty notebooks, aqua or hama beads, fancy colouring books etc

Kindle if she likes to read or an audible subscription

Nice character watch

Squashimals

Snuzzle · 01/08/2021 11:25

@Zombiemama I’m going for the switch itself because she’ll want to be able to take it to her cousins and them all play together.
She loves mario kart too so I’ll get her the wheels and we can hook it to the tv and play it together.

AliceMcK · 01/08/2021 11:43

@Zombiemama my 9yo wants a switch, I looked at the light version but my DH, who knows more about these thing, said that the light version wasn’t worth it and the main one had far more options to do things on it so it’s better paying the extra.

mamatoTails · 01/08/2021 14:55

I have a DD who will be 8 before Xmas.
She's mentioned a Switch, but I don't know anything about them!

I was thinking of a dressing table and jewellery box as she loves jewellery, and doing hair so thought she might like a proper place to keep all her bits and bobs.

Snuzzle · 01/08/2021 15:18

@mamatoTails I’m not an expert but the switch is basically a hand held console that can also be connected to a tv for everyone to play together. I think gameplay is quite similar to the ds console but the controllers can be separated from the console for multiplayer use.

Zombiemama · 01/08/2021 16:34

A dressing table would be a lovely idea too. I asked her casually today if she had any ideas and she asked me was it not still summer holidays.
This coming from the girl watching Home Alone last week..

DD was 7 last Christmas, and we went for lots of cheaper craft-type presents rather than me big one. Things that went down well were:

  • crafty type kits - French knitting doll, Gemex, bath bomb making kit, sewing and basket making kits, nail art
  • stationery - box of Djeco stationery, stickers, sticky notes, craft papers, washi tape, notebooks, glitter pens
  • A Djeco music jewellery box - this she especially liked!
  • Book sets
  • 3D light up puzzle
  • Enchanted Forest board game
nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 02/08/2021 02:22

My dd is a little older at 9 but she loves lol dolls, cave club dolls (her 2 loves together dinosaurs and dolls!), cuddly toys (she always has a new one), enchantimals dolls, dressing up costumes (last year it was disney zombies and descendants).

Just to add on the switch conversation, we have one. Its my DH's primarily as he's a big gamer, its lots of fun to play all together, a bit tricky for younger children to manage alone as a handheld console. So maybe if you are unsure on whether it will get used or are new to consoles maybe, try out a nintendo wii for TV gaming as a family (around £30 in cex) or a Nintendo 2DS or 3DS for handheld gaming. My dd2 has a ds and adores it, uses it all the time. The switch is ok but I wouldnt feel happy her playing it out and about considering the cost and bulkiness of it. You can still get lots of popular games for both eg mariokart is available for both of them.

Brilliant ideas and thanks for the switch information definitely alot to think about.

@nocutsnobuttsnococonuts where did you find zombies and descendents costumes? Dd was obsessed with these movies over lockdown but I found it almost impossible to source bits in the UK to order?

Zombies I found on amazon. The descendants ones I found on ebay, was watching for ages and managed to get a good bargain in the end. They were used but great condition and dd didn't care! I wanted the disney store ones hence bidding. But there was unbranded ones fairly cheap.

There's a lovely descendants poster book you can get, I bought that and laminated all the A4 posters as they were double sided so she could choose which ones to have up.

Other than that I scoured ebay and Facebook for the dolls for her at a price I was willing to pay! I managed to find a few tshirts, a keyring for her bag. A sports bag for pe.

Today was dark and miserable perfect cosy weather to snuggle up and talk about Halloween Birthday and Christmas so we have a little list of ideas...

A TV for her bedroom
OMG LOL dolls
Barbie playsets-multiple!!!!
Making sets - drawing painting etc

No mention of a Switch at all but she did throw me with wanting a battery car that she can sit in. Is 7 too old for this? I always thought they were more suited to younger children any I have seen from a quick flick through Argos is from 2+
