Would it be morally wrong to put a Bratz doll into the church's Christmas present collection?

I don't like em y'see and neither does DD tbh (think they are icky in ways described on MN threads passim)

It was a gift to her but cannot return it to shop without receipt and cannot bring myself to give it to any of her friends.

Would it therefore be morally wrong to put it into the church sleigh collecting presents for children who have none? Would it not be worse just to put it in the bin (which seems to be the other option) as not very green.

no views then?

(I realise this is hardly a serious dilemma...)

put it in the collection and let the higher moral authority of the church decide what to do with it.

I hate em too but if it was the only present my DD was getting this year, I'd be very grateful for it all the same.

No, it would be morally right. Morally wrong to throw it in the bin.

And a lot of little girls do like them. You might make someone's Christmas.

I am so torn.

Anything else and I wouldn't hesitate to say it should go to the collection - your personal taste or not.

Saying that I hate Bratz with a passion...they seem to really send me a bit loopy with loathing...but as TTTB said if it is the only present a child wil get this year.

hmmm I really am torn.

it wouldnt be wrong - it would be right.

the moral part may come in when deciding what to purchase.

you didn;t purchase said item

therefore your sould is absolved and the devil will not drag you into his eternal inferno

chopchopbusybusy · 27/11/2007 15:10

Well, I'm not very keen on them, but it would be morally wrong to throw it out. Either put it in the church collection or give it to a charity shop.

EffiePerine · 27/11/2007 15:12

ooh GO ON

am all for morally dubious items in Church collections

fireflyfairy2 · 27/11/2007 15:14

Some people must like them, otherwise there would be no market for all the dolls/games/clothes/dvds produced on a mass scale.

Put it in, someone will be pleased to receive it Even if you weren't!

talktothebees · 27/11/2007 15:14

I think I might be scared of them. They look like they're waiting for you to fall asleep so they can strangle you with your tights and buy some cheap cider with the contents of your purse.

My DD is going to love them isn't she? 'Tis the alw of the parental universe.

Clary · 28/11/2007 12:40

lol all right then girls in it goes.

As custy says, I parted with no money for it so have not as such boosted the income of whoever makes em.

Hopefully some one who loves them will get it

(may purchase something less morally dubious as well in effort to feel better about self)
