HELP!

Need inspiration as to how to stop Mitten (yes - mitten the kitten!) to stop climbing the tree when it goes up.

Shall I just keep her out the lounge when not with her (she is only 8 weeks old and will have plenty of space in the kitchen)?

Tree will probally be too prickly if it's a real 1. If not, keep her out.

spray it with lemon juice/disinfectant/anything citrusy.

Cats hate citrus smells (hurts their nose).

Get a water pistol and spray her every time she tries to

its all part of the fun of having a kitten- ours are nearly two and i can guess that they will still be climbing the tree this year . Last year it was funny to watch- after all its not going to do that much harm is it.

Only thing to watch for is when they need rescuing, pittiful meowing from the top of the tree= stupid kitten playing 'angel' on the top too scared to get down on his own!

Decorate the tree with bits of peeled or whole satsumas. I've been using peelings to help my kitten toilet train.

Keep her away from it and/or put some guy ropes on so it doesn't fall over when she does climb it. Oh and if you have any silk-covered balls then leave them in the box this year. Our kittens used to climb the tree especially to get them down and shred them - they made a lovely mess.

And be glad she's not a puppy - at least she is unlikely to eat the lights, as my PIL's puppy did one year

Also remember that real xmas trees can be toxic to cats if they chew the needles and swallow them and they can also get internal injuries.
We used the have real xmas trees but since having cats we have always had a fake one.

LOL mellowma.

My tree wears a skirt - will remember the foil.

I don't put tinsel on my tree (it only has baubels and lights - looks shockingly superb!)

Will get water (might electrocute self!) and tin of coins... great tips.

Also, will enjoy telling cat to get off said tree and will definitely keep her in the kitchen when I go out!
