How good a pen grip do you need to play the games?

Its like using a normal pen/pencil for writing, the same abilty to grip and move it about.

WestCountryLass · 22/11/2007 21:10

Well my DD3 can do it if that helps

ladygrinningTooSoonForXmasName · 22/11/2007 21:41

DS really wants one, but his pen grip is rubbish. I thought it might give him the impetus to practice if I promised him it? But at what point to let him have it?

What age group is the DS lite really for?

I am wondering about my 5 year old....

LIZS · 22/11/2007 21:46

On one site they say 8

Hulababy · 22/11/2007 21:49

My 5yo DD is getting a DS for Cjristmas. A few of her friends are, age 5-6yo. DD has been using mine since last Christmas, so since she was 4.5yo There are more and more games coming out now for it which are aimed from 3+.

GodzillasBumcheek · 22/11/2007 21:49

Unless you have an early gamer, i would advise not below the age of 6. And that's pushing it. My daughters began to enjoy games at about age 8.

GodzillasBumcheek · 22/11/2007 21:50

If you're buying for a young gamer though, can i recommend Animal Crossing? It's great - and easy.

hayCHingleBells · 22/11/2007 21:51

And cooking mama, its brilliant my 4yr old can do this with very little help. I like to play it too.

QuintessentialShadow · 22/11/2007 21:53

My son is 5. He has been using the cebeebies website since he was 3, and nick junior and fantasyworld of fun since he was 5. He plays sim city, and lego star wars. But not a lot. He gets a little time on it every day, but it is by no means taking up a lot of his time.

I think it would be a good idea, my husband thinks not.

GodzillasBumcheek · 22/11/2007 21:55

OMG...my kids must just be rubbish at games then!

Bradsmum · 22/11/2007 21:56

Hi - my ds is 5 and had one for his birthday a few weeks ago. He has a car racing game and a transformers game. I am amazed how quickly he has "got it". He really is into the games and enjoys finding new things on it. We do, however, have to limit his use otherwise he'd be on it as much as possible.

couldn't use get one of those triangle grip things you can put on pencils, would that work(sorry don't know what they are called)

DS2 (now 4) can use the stylus fine and has been for about 6 months, he does also have a Mario pen from Game whish switched from biro to stylus, it's more bulky and makes noises too

CripleH · 22/11/2007 23:36

The stylus on the DS Lite is a little bit thicker than the one on the original design. See them pens you get in Argos? Not too disimilar.
