She started in September and I have NO idea what the groove is on this. I would much rather not!!

I do buy for the staff but there are only three of them. I dont spend a lot, its just a token.

MorocconOil · 21/11/2007 20:37

I do but then I have always been very happy with the people who have looked after/taught my DC. It's felt like a way of saying thank-you.

On the other hand if I had not been happy with the carer/teacher I wouldn't bother.

LilyLoo · 21/11/2007 20:38

usually end up adding another box of chocs / biscuits/ wine to the pile they get !

karen999 · 21/11/2007 20:39

Most mums do I think but if you would prefer not to then I don't think you should.

I did buy little gifts from a xmas market for the carers in dd room last year, as did some other parents, but not all of them did. I dont think it is "expected" TBH, at least in dd nursery, but I really wanted to show them my appreciation and I think it may raise moral in the staff.

bonitaMia · 21/11/2007 20:43

morale, even...
oh, I know what I mean...

used2bthin · 21/11/2007 20:44

I am a nursery nurse(or was pre DD), some parents did give gifts, mainly a box of chocs or similar which was great, we never particularly noticed if anyone didn't though!

PutThatInYourPipeandSmokeIt · 21/11/2007 20:47

There are loads of staff and they all seem to help out with all ages, so individual things would be impossible. Do you think tin of chocs would be ok??

I take in choccies/biscuits on the 1st Dec for the staffroom as do think getting tons of choccies on last day of term is a predicament as no one wants to take loads home with them and you can't eat them all in 1 day!

Then I take the teachers a pointsetta on the last day of term as a token Xmas gift.

If you don't want to give them anything then don't. If my kids had teachers that weren't making a difference in their own way or I did not get on with I wouldn't bother tbh.

hotbot · 21/11/2007 20:49

i thought wine for dds specific keyworker and a huge box of my lovely homemade shortbread, but i dont really know if its right, the staff are all just fab really caring and kind so i want to say THANKS!

Blandmum · 21/11/2007 20:49

WCL, I do the same as you. A box of biscuits to share in the weeks running up to the end of term when things often get v busy so a biscuit is always nice!

PutThatInYourPipeandSmokeIt · 21/11/2007 20:58

I'm just being a stingy lazy cow but actually I could make a batch of something delish - isn't it hard for them to eat infront of the kids without sharing it??
