Feeling rather smug this year because I bought Dads pressie a few weeks back. He's having a digital tv recorder box thing. He's not allowed to have sky (he and mum agree he can't be trusted not to watch every cricket match shown which will mean devoting entire weeks to it). So can't have sky+, so this does the same thing - records, pause live tv etc. I think he's going to love it because he has real trouble working the video and can only record something if he is there.

harleyd · 21/11/2007 17:10

cat boots and a bottle of grouse

Slouchy · 21/11/2007 17:10

My Dad is a proper scrooge.
He is getting an Oxfam goat (for a miserable old goat). He will appreciate the humour, gesture and he need not moan about us cluttering up his house with stuff he doen't need.
Plus a photo calender of the dds, we do one for him and ILs every year.

GreebosWhiskers · 21/11/2007 17:12

I've got my dad a crystal shot glass engraved with an Ankh-Morpork 2 penny stamp. He doesn't drink shots but he does love Discworld (that's where I get it from) so it's another bit of tat to add to his collection

I usually wind up buying him golfing crap but he now has more tees than he'll ever know what to do with so thought this would make a nice change.

ClaphamLauren · 21/11/2007 17:19

Tickets to see the Pogues. It's so easy and he loves it!

sparkybabe · 21/11/2007 18:14

Hey slouchy - asked my MIL to get me a goat from send-a-cow last year, so i didn't have loads of stuff to find homes/charity shops for. Feel really good about it too!

grannyslippers · 21/11/2007 18:58

Some very cool knitted socks and a book on spitfire pilots of WW2 or something.

No idea whatsoever for FIL - why is it harder? He may get the Planet earth DVD's...

Mercedes · 21/11/2007 20:48

I've got my Dad and Mum tickets to see the Strictly Come Dancing Show.

My dad is easy. His birthday is near to christmas so I always buy him a joint pressie of a subscription to classic fm magazine.

ProfYaffle · 22/11/2007 07:46

The River Cottage 'Meat' book, a chicken brick and some home made fruit jelly for meat glazes/gravy.

Wisteria · 22/11/2007 08:01

I'm getting my Dad this

I thought it was a great idea and they have loads of other options for the environmentally concerned man who has everything.

He also wants an up to date DVD of Joyce Grenfall (can't find it as I don't think one exists) and an up to date photo of the girls (brother is a studio photographer so that's easy!
