When does Santa go on sale?!

Keen for my two to have a good Santa experience this year since they missed out last year. They will be 6&4.

It seems I'm too early to get anything booked now but wondering when they typically go a on sale as the year before I was quite late and all the good dates were gone.

Sorry after all this waffle which Santa do you see (nosey and looking for inspiration) and when do you book?

I'm not on Facebook which probably doesn't help!

My local light railway has sold out its Santa trains this year already. They went on sale a couple of months ago.

Out local garden centre does a lovely winter wonderland walk with a very pricey Santa visit £20 per child! But it's a proper grotto and looks like it is straight out of Lapland. These go on sale August/September.

I know the Lapland UK usually go on sale early but I think that will be probably booked up as people who booked last year but it got cancelled have booked already for this year as they had priority.

A charity in our area does drive by Santa who stops for photos on his sleigh. The kids love that one. You could check if that's something they do by you?

Im not on Facebook either.

Wow! I thinking I was too early!

I've seen some advertised already.

We think this will be our last Santa Train year. (We usually book September to get choice of dates. The last weekend before Christmas and Christmas Eve sell out fastest. Early December is usually the last to sell out)

bluec · 12/06/2021 12:17

I had a look at Lapland Uk but it's quite a long journey from Scotland for a few hours but I'm sure you are right about availability due to last year.

I was hoping to go to Glasgow or Edinburgh. I had looked at woodland experience but they are not on sale yet. Id definitely travel for something amazing but all still feels a bit tricky this year so probably best to stick closer to home

I’ve just checked and the earliest I’ve ever booked is July so I’m guessing probably quite soon? Keen to do a nice Santa this year after no holiday etc but we will also have a 6 week old baby with us!

bluec · 12/06/2021 12:52

That's exciting @Iloveyou3x will be a nice picture at least Grin

We normally go to Harrods, if you sign up for there gold card they send you an invite around October to book your place although you have to be quick as they sell out (all the best dates) within the day but do release extra days leading up to Christmas. We didn't go the last two years but have been quite a few times. It use to be £10 per child which you got back to spend in the Christmas shop after meeting santa but can't remember if they scapped that now. You could call your local garden centre and see if they do a grotto wha dates they release tickets.

bluec · 12/06/2021 13:35

@YouDoIDo I read recently Harrods changed the rules to mean only people who had spent over £2000 over the previous 6 months would be invited! Think there was a bit of an uproar so they've also said they would invite 160 underprivileged families.

I always have a nosey around harrods food hall when I'm in London and splurge on nice cakes but not to the tune of 2k sadly Grin

I'm in Scotland and have only been to Dobbies and it's always been good. I fancy the Bo'ness railway santa experience sometime but no idea when it goes on sale 🤔

NoWordForFluffy · 12/06/2021 16:28

The train we go on usually goes on sale in January, but isn't on sale yet, due to Covid uncertainty. I'm hoping they go on sale soon, as it's our last year, I think. 🎅🏻 🚂

Isawthathaggis · 12/06/2021 16:35

We’ve already booked our Santa experience, near £900 on Christmas Eve Eve. Took some doing to convince DH this was a good spend.

When we were in Scotland we used to do the Balfron one, which is lovely. Skinners the Butcher in Kippen provide hot food you can buy, there’s a tractor ride and a very lovely Santa rhyming in broad Scots. They get a named book from Santa and get to pick an unwrapped toy from the shelf.

Got the shock of my life when we moved south and Santa had a Brummie accent! Children have never notice though. Grin

I’ve also heard the Bo’ness railway one is brilliant.

bluec · 12/06/2021 19:20

Wow @Isawthathaggis please tell us more about what you've booked I bet it will be amazing!

Yes it's the Balfron woodlands experience one I fancied but not on sale yet.

@FiloFaxx actually Dobbies was the very first Santa we saw when my oldest was just two and it was great we went mid week and there was no queue! Just looking for something that can be more of a day out

All the people talking about trains has reminded me their is a steam train near Grangemouth that I think does a Santa experience so will look at that too

Not the same thing but I called a restaurant to enquire about Christmas Day lunch today and was told they will be advertising from the end of the month so places are getting organised now!

PaulineScrambledPhones · 20/06/2021 18:04

We booked for Tamworth Snowdome last week.
