Where can I get smallish Christmas Stockings, cheaply, please?

I like to do a stocking for each person who stays with us Christmas Eve, but this year I will have 11 people in the house. I order not to bankrupt us just on the stockings, I need some fairly dinky ones. Say, about 30cm long?

I like to put usable stuff in them, rather than lots of sweets and tat, so trying to fill 11 large stockings isn't really feasible.

Maybe something like this but a bit bigger.

Thanks!

Poundland is selling them ready made.

I bought hessian sacks last year for 20p each, cut shape of stocking out, glued the edges (no sewing) and then stuck red ribbon round the top.

I also cut letters out of felt and put their names on - took me an hour to do 6 last year - cost about £1.60 for all of them.

Can you use real socks and put the other one in as a stocking filler? My boys always have one of Grandad's socks for their stockings and it's surprising what you can get in!

I am going to do what perpetualworrier says - I have bought -naff- fun christmassy socks and will ball the second one up in the bottom and fill with some little things - this is for adults. Got female christmassy socks in matalan for £1.

make them yourself

yes, socks!

I've got one of my grandfather's sea socks, and it's plenty big enough!

DH has a knee-length walking sock

Tradition in my house was always to hang up one of your own socks to be filled!!

Our socks just had nuts, a handful of Quality Street, a clementine and a small toy (to keep us occupied til it was time for my parents to get up!).

Simpler the better, IMO!

Now you get these ridiculously sized sacks that are expected to be filled on Xmas morning and then the main presents downstairs. Greedy or what?!!
