Would you buy a 14 month old girl a ELC garage?

Its going cheap plus I have a 20% off voucher so would be only £20 instead of the £37.50. DD loves wheels and always plays with little boys cars. We got her a dolls house for her birthday as I didn't think she had enough girlie toys. Any ideas other than garage? We already have a farm.

I'm getting one for my dd aged 18 months. She'll love it.

Children only develop the ideas about gender roles that we impose upon them.

ArmadilloDaMan · 15/11/2007 22:03

why not if she'll love it.

Get her toys she likes not ones that fit what she should like.

AitchTwoOh · 15/11/2007 22:04

sure, dd would love that. i'm off to have a look myself.

pollywollybauble · 15/11/2007 22:04

dd loves her garage.....

popmum · 15/11/2007 22:05

BTW, you don;t get 2 lots of discount at ELC, if reduced no extra 20% off

My DD had a similar fisher price one and loves it

wrinklytum · 15/11/2007 22:05

ELF1981 · 15/11/2007 22:07

Yep. DD got one for her 1st birthday and loved it. She's now two and for Xmas is getting a remote control car, she loves them!

laura032004 · 17/11/2007 09:22

We've got 2 DS's, but all the little girls who come to play love our Fisher Price little People garage.

Chilimama · 17/11/2007 12:06

If you think she will like it, why not?

We have bought our younger dd (20 months) a garage for Christmas as she loves cars

dd666 · 17/11/2007 12:16

yes i would, i also have brought nephews dolls and pushchairs.
dd had cars for her birthday

pukkapatch · 17/11/2007 12:19

no, i wouldnt waste the money on a girl or a boy.
a cardboard box is just as much fumn as the amazing stuff elc does, and a xilliion times chepare.
however, if asking formt he sexist pov, then, i think its perfctly fine ot buy one ofr a girl

Babyramone · 17/11/2007 12:20

Another yes from me. My DD loves playing with her brothers Little People one. I'd get it if didn't already have one.

lucykate · 17/11/2007 12:23

yes, i would if she's into cars. my dd had a brio train set and was a huge brum fan when she was younger which has all bee passed on to ds, he even uses her old brum back pack as his nursery bag

fullmoonfiend · 17/11/2007 12:38

all the children at preschool loved the garage, not just the boys.
wooden train sets are another winner - they can be stored in a box, and built on year after year with more track, trains etc.

sweetkitty · 17/11/2007 12:42

My DDs are 3 and 22 months they have an FP Garage, cars, Bob the Builder and Thomas toys.

They love them just as much as they love dolls and prams.

QueenBhannae · 17/11/2007 15:27

Yes, buy a garage and no, not the elc one as it is rubbish! Falls apart everytime my little lad looks at it lol

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 17/11/2007 15:37

I bought DD1 the figure of 8 wooden Thomas trainset for Christmas when she was about 15 months. She absolutely loved it.

She is now 6, has a brother of 4 and a sister of 3 and we now own vast amounts of wooden track, trains, trucks, etc and it gets played with every week and always has done. One of our better investments!

dooley1 · 17/11/2007 15:38

my 3 year ds has one of those
his 14 month old sister loves it
it has flashing lights too

MuffinMclay · 17/11/2007 22:19

I'd get a garage, but not the ELC one.

Tapster · 18/11/2007 15:33

So which garage if not the ELC?
