DD1 is the Whoopsadaisy Angel! Official permission to go overboard on the costume, so share your ideas - needs to be wacky but still satisfy DD1's concept of angel gorgeousness

This is the Whoopsadaisy Angel, apparently. Well, there are going to be a lot of perfect-looking fairy-style angels around so DD1 will not be happy with the scruffy look. Nursery suggested just going overboard with the glitter to give her a wacky look - so far I was thinking maybe a normal angel dress but with maybe brightly coloured wings and shoes, and perhaps a bright tinsel wig. Any better ideas?

OMG, my DD was whoopsadaisy angel too - I cried!! She fell right in with the scruffy look.

All together now

'who's halo is never straight, who's halo is never straight, running around making mistakes? Whoopsadaisy angel'

HuwEdwards · 14/11/2007 11:46

whose not who's

see I got all emotional and my grammar went to pot.

Ha franch, I just spotted your other thread and was about to recommend glorious white feather wings from Pedlars, but I can see those might not be much use for this role.
Aw, how cute

franch · 14/11/2007 11:54

WOW Marina, just looked those up, they are spectacular!

Huw, Huw, post the rest of the lyrics to give me some inspiration!!

I suppose DD1 might just about tolerate it if I sewed a few bright pink patches on an otherwise gorgeous dress (am thinking Adams ... If it was me I'd be wearing wellies or something with it though but suspect she'd be seriously distressed when she saw all the cuties in their ballet pumps ...

Franch - look here

If you click on the headphones on the right-hand-side, it will give you a demo of the songs.

You will bawl I tell you, bawl, when you watch her. I just sobbed now at the memory.

Franch I am gutted that this year dd is not an angel after I saw those. She is unable to explain clearly what she is, which is worrying me slightly ("a Father Christmas boy dolly" )

franch · 14/11/2007 12:01

Ah - genius Huw! I'm afraid even that brought a lump to my throat - oh dear ... !

Marina - maybe she means pixie

oh god, am getting all sentimental that both DDs are in school now. I loved the nursery nativities....

franch · 14/11/2007 12:02

Good luck with that costume then Marina ...

I tell ya Franch - every one of those songs will get you. The way DD used to sing 'We are so angel...IC'

sniff...

When dd was the Whhopadaisy angel, I dressed bher a bit like Winnie the Witch - with odd legged stripy tights. And I put lots of plaits in her hair with diferent coloured ribbons. I'll see if I can find a picture!

franch · 14/11/2007 12:14

Ooh seeker I'd love to see a picture Stripy tights a fab idea. DD1 has an enormous mass of curly mixed-race hair so lots of options if I don't do the tinsel wig thing - thanks

She actually had a pair of black and red and a pair of black and purple stripes tights so I cut a leg off each. Looked brilliant!

franch · 14/11/2007 21:03

How funny seeker, I just logged on to ask you how the mismatched tights worked. Probably stupid question but how did they stay up?

Have now decided on this knee-length Christmas fairy dress from Woolies instead of the full-length one, just so that I can use your tights idea to full effect

OP posts:
RustyBear · 14/11/2007 21:18

You don't wear the leg you cut off, franch, you wear the rest of the tights - so you have two of the knicker bits on top of each other.

seeker · 14/11/2007 21:21

My dd always wears odd tights - you cut a leg off each and wear the knicker part and one leg of each. You then make "arm warmer" sort of things with the spare legs. Or you wear it as a hat (I kid you not - very "individual" my dd is!) Or you use it as a hair scrunchie - or you wear them as socks.

seeker · 14/11/2007 21:21

Sorry, Rusty Bear - you beat me to it!

franch · 14/11/2007 21:24

Wow ..... thanks .....

ooo DS did this one in reception !!

seeker · 14/11/2007 21:59

My dd is a hippy/grunge in the making - leave her alone with an item of clothing, a pair of scissors and some fabric pens at your peril!
